She grew up believing that Dawnstep's mate Duskstep was her true father, and both she and her Clan were unaware that her actual biological father was a kittypet named George; Dawnstep and Duskstep never spoke a word against Morningleaf's assumed parentage and Duskstep treated her as his daughter regardless. Morningleaf became pregnant by Stonefoot less than a month into her warriorship and gave birth to Lilacear and Barktail in the Moon of First Fishing (2003). Morningleaf died at the age of thirty-three moons. She was killed in battle alongside Duskstep during the Moon of Cheetah's Flight (2004).
