Short Description :
A stocky brown tabby she-cat with a twice-broken tail
Long Description :
A large female, Brokentail's weight has increased noticably since her forced domestication at the hands of a twolegger couple. Her fur is thick, but underneath her muscles have become hidden under a layer of fat, and her gait is nowhere near as graceful or quick as it once was.
She's a stocky cat now, and most of her old scars have begun to heal over, although her tail is still as crooked as ever; kinked in two places from a mishap near the river.

Personality
Sweet and gentle, Brokentail is as wise and compassionate as the next medicine cat, although she's haunted by the memories of her own life. Once over-eager and quick to jump at any task, she now perfers dozing in the sun over chasing prey. She's smart enough to keep out of sight from the ThunderClan patrolls that occasionally wander near her territory, ashamed as she is of being found living a soft kittypet life.

Full History :
Born to a brindled female named Tornnose (a former rogue turned clan cat) in the early fall, she was born into the fringes of clan society. Tornnose was a fairly new addition to RiverClan at the time of his birth, and the she-cat was still very much in the dark about most of what went on. Her first pregnancy, she was scared, and despite earlier comments from the medicine cat at that time, Snoweyes, about coming to him at the time of the birthing, she fled. Tornnose disappeared for nearly a moon, the clan's warriors unable to follow her trail after it lead into Twolegger lands. When she was finally found on, tired, hungry, and transporting three young kittens, her tale was quite unusual.
Where she had denned, under a bramble bush by a twolegger home, had originally seemed to be quite safe. Although there were dogs and twolegger children about, they never seemed to pay her scents any attention, and they never even gave the bushes a second glance in passing. Tragedy struck, however, in the form of fire. A leaf pile, burning unattended, spread unchecked. Tornnose managed to get three kits away unharmed, and save a fourth - Greykit at the time - away with only smoke inhalation and a burn on his paw. The other kit in the litter was lost. Clan life proved to be too much for Tornnose, and soon after the return of her litter she left, and returned to her life as a loner. A queen, Tallfrost, who had lost all but one of her litter to greencough, nursed them. Her appprenticeship was made interesting by her brother Ashpaw's disappearance and assumed death. While Swiftpaw and Fogpaw mourned their loss, it didn't stop them from training. Brokentail earned her warrior name after a mishap near the river. With waters running high and fast due to spring floodwaters, she fell in and was swept down stream. Aside from nearly drowning, she managed to escape the incident with only a few strained muscles and her tail broken in two places. Apprenticed to the medicine cat before her, Snoweyes, Brokentail grew up fast and hard in the brutal years of the Great War. Her own appointment to medicine cat came just as suddenly, with Snoweyes passing from the vicious bout of greencough that drove RiverClan from their old camp. She took on an apprentice, a young she-cat known then as Seapaw, and began training her, unaware that her own departure from the position of medicine cat would be as swift as that of her mentors. While out hunting for herbs near the Twoleg farm on the edge of RiverClan territory, she found herself snatched up by a twoleg after investigating what appeared to be a small hole in the barn walls. She was taken to a twoleg vet where she was treated for superficial injuries, given vaccines for diseases no medicine cat have heard of before, and then spayed. After recovering from what had been a stressful week in a tiny, shiny cold cave and being prodded and poked by Twoleg after Twoleg, she was taken to a new home. She is now a member of a Twoleg nest. She lived through the end of her life with the twolegs in their nest, until such time as she began to grow ill. To her dismay the twolegs refused to let her outside to gather herbs or many attempt to heal herself, and their cutter-man poked and prodded and gave her hard pellets that lacked the healing kick of good herbs. During one of these many trips, when her illness reached a creshendo, the cutter poked her with one of his silver sticks, and suddenly the end of her life rolled over her. |
