Appearance   Short Description : A sleek cream tabby tom with a calm demeanor Long Description : Sleekpelt is a cream tabby tom, slightly smaller than the average warrior. His apprentice and later warrior name derives from his thick and sleek coat of black-tipped fur. Green eyes and battered, larger-than average ears that seem to balance out his smaller body complete the image. Unfortunately, they also seem to attract enemy claws: Seafur has had to bandage up his ears after almost every fight that Sleekpelt has been in.

Personality     Sleekpelt is generally a calm and unflappable warrior. When things look grin or troubles begin to rise, Sleekpelt merely gets colder and colder. One can generally tell things have “dropped in the pot” if Sleekpelt's voice sounds like it's made of ice. On the other hand, Sleekpelt has a fanatical dedication to schedules and “the way things have always been.” Other warriors that are merely late or stopped for a moment have had to endure the sight of the usually-tranquil warrior going crazy simply because they weren't tight to his schedule and plans. Stories are still told about the fight between him and Rushingwater when Seafur's request for some herbs caused her to be late for Sleekpelt's hunting patrol. Under his coat of ice, Sleekpelt isn't actually as cold as he appears. He may appear to have a heart carved from granite, but he actually has a warm- if rather naive- heart under his cold exterior. Thus he has few friends, but those he does have are very close to him.

His father was Rockclaw, his mother Splashingrain. Both of them were good friends, although neither had much of a romantic interest in the other. Splashingrain, however, loved kits and wanted some for her own, so she asked Rockclaw to father a litter. Rockclaw agreed, and the two mated to produce Wetkit, Rushingkit and Streakit. At first all seemed well. Spashingrain was a devoted, if rather smothering mother, and the kits thrived. Wetkit and Rushingkit were both strong and lively, and although Streakit seemed slightly weak, Splashingrain was confident that he would survive and grow into a strong warrior. She couldn't have been more wrong. When the kits were four months old, whitecough hit the nursery. Rushingkit shook it off easily, but Wetkit and Streakit weren't so fortunate. Wetkit was lucky- he wavered between whitecough and greencough for three weeks before finally making a full recovery. His growth was stunted somewhat, but he was alive. His brother was less fortunate; he never fully caught greencough, but his appetite and will to live dwindled until he died of general systemic failure. Splashingrain had always been somewhat idealistic and the intrusion of reality upon her dreams of motherhood came as a rather rude surprise.She raised her kits dutifully, but not with an ardency as before, vowing that this litter would be both her first and last. As a result of this and of their long illnesses, both Wetkit and Rushingkit grew up with a mother that seemed to care little for them. Rushingwater's friendly, inquisitive nature helped her overcome this but Wetkit's response was to draw himself inward, forming his icy exterior persona. Sleekpaw was apprenticed when he was 7 moons old to give him a chance to catch up in size to the other apprentices. His mentor, a crusty old tom named Mistheart, and he didn't get along so well during most of his training. His mentor saw only his apprentice's icy exterior, while Sleekpaw saw only the surliness of Mistheart's personality; as a result, Sleekpaw's training suffered. Neither appreciated the other until an unfortunate falling accident involving another warrior. Seeing Sleekpaw's calmness slip and a bit of his warmer self emerge as he checked over the other warrior's injuries, Mistheart reevaluated Sleekpaw and gave him a better chance. Together, the two battled months of slipshod training until Sleekpaw stood one day in his 13th moon before Hawkstar and received his warrior name of Sleekpelt.
