Description: A tall, slender plant with large groups of tiny bright yellow flowers at the top. On average they are around a foot tall, but particularly hardy specimens can be up to five feet tall. It grows in groups in which a large number of stems are gathered together.
Properties: Goldenrod is well know for its ability to heal external wounds, but it is also excellent for use in treating the stomach or kidneys. Chronic digestive troubles are best treated with goldenrod over other choices. Bloody urine or hardened kidneys also benefit from this herb.

Collecting & Storing Leaves
When to Collect : Late New-leaf
How to Collect : Pluck leaves of healthy green color from the plant.
How to Preserve : Lay the leaves in the sun so that they may dry quickly.
How to Store : Store in loose piles in a dry, cool place.
Collecting & Storing Flowers
When to Collect : Mid to Late Green-leaf
How to Collect : Select flowers of bright yellow color and full vitality. Bite the flower bundle at the top just underneath the place where it starts.
How to Preserve : Lay the flower bundle in the sun so that it may dry quickly. Remember to turn it periodically so that it dries evenly.
How to Store : Stack the flower bundles in a dry, cool place. The pile should be rotated periodically to prevent damage.

Leaves : Should be consumed by the patient to aid in recovery from chronic stomach upset.
Leaves : Should be consumed by a patient with hardened kidneys to encourage the softening of them.
Leaves : Should be consumed by a patient with bloody urine to eliminate the condition.
Leaves : Should be chewed and applied as a poultice to aid in the clean healing of a wound.
Leaves : May be consumed to aid in the relief of nausea.
