Cabal Ceremonies

From Children of StarClan

Navigation: Index

Tradition, as well as power, are idolized within the ranks of the Cabal. These ceremonies are performed by the Caesar, or in some cases, the General with the Caesar’s permit.

Sacramentum: The Ceremony of Centurion

The Sacramentum is the oath of allegiance towards Caesar. A ward cannot graduate to the rank of centurion without giving their allegiance. Newcomers that are old enough to be directly accepted as a centurion are also directly to recite this oath. Below is the direct (cats who join) and the indirect (cats raised to become a centurion) ceremony.

Direct Sacramentum

CAESAR/GENERAL: "Do you, NAME, swear yourself and reserve all loyalty for your Caesar, to hone your claws for him, and take on the title of Centurion?"
WARD: "I do so swear."
Alternate words can be substituted as needed or desired by the ward.
CAESAR/GENERAL: "Then I, NAME, accept your allegiance. Together we shall conquer all who oppose us. Arise, NAME, and set your eyes towards your future.

Indirect Sacramentum

PREPARATIONS: The cat must fast the day of their ceremony, eating nothing. As they fast, they are required to stand vigil until moonrise. At moonhigh, the ceremony begins.
CEASAR: -addressing his centurions-. "Mentored with the knowledge of our ancestors, NAME, has trained and fought with our traditions in their heart and courage in their eyes. NAME has earned the privilege to accept the Sacramentum into their body and graduate to the rank of Centurion . This day, their body has welcomed no food and has spent the night silent contemplation and reverence of their future. NAME, come forward and humble yourself before your comrades and ruler."
WARD: -Stands and comes forward before Caesar.-
CAESAR: "Do you, NAME, solemnly swear that you will support and defend the will of Caesar against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that you obey the orders of Caesar of the Cabal and the orders of the centurions appointed under me, according to regulations of my Word?
WARD: "I do."
CAESAR: "Do you, NAME, solemnly swear that you will forever forsake the filth of humankind, forever turning away from their touch and influence?
WARD: "I do."
CAESAR: "Do you, NAME, swear before your Caesar to uphold the borders of the Empire and expand the influence of its Caesar?
WARD: "I do."
CAESAR: "Do you, NAME, swear before your Caesar to live to the best of your ability, for better or for worse, in times of war and in times of peace, to never fall victim to laziness, dishonesty, or weakness?
WARD: "I do so swear."
CAESAR: -Approaches the ward. Using the right paw, the Caesar touches first the forehead, then the left shoulder, then the forehead.-"I dub thee Centurion! Lift your head, NAME! Sharpen your claws on the weak of this world! Hail Caesar!"
WARD AND ASSEMBLY: "Hail Caesar!
After the ceremony, a feast is held to commemorate the new Centurion(s).

Ceremony of Lieutenant

CAESAR: "My will has called you forth. NAME, you have been found worthy of graduating beyond your comrade. Are you prepared to take up further responsibility for your Caesar and Empire, for better or for worse, in times of war and in times of peace?"
CENTURION: Bows down. "I am, Caesar."
CAESAR: "Then I, CAESARsNAME, am prepared to offer you the title of Lieutenant. Go and never forget who you are. Arise Lieutenant NAME , and guide your comrades with wisdom and strength."
