Warriors Code/Version 2

Version 2 of the Warriors Code came about when Version 1 was found inadequate. Kitsu undertook a full re-write that concluded on 28 February 2006, when this version replaced the old. It moved out of use on 28 January 2008.

The Code

The First Code

To ritual may the clan stay true:

Announce kit to clan on night of birth,

And once to us they've proven worth,

Grant new names when they are due.

First name shall declare them kits,

Then paws when mentor the leader permits.

At Moon-high shall the leader who reigned,

Give to the clan a new deputy's name.

The Second Code

Taught to young paws, in a mentor's kind way:

Respect shall be in each word you say,

To Leader, Elder, treat all the same way,

So never in disrespect a moment you stay.

A days journey by new pair must be spent,

Till around clan's borders both have went.

Two things must paw learn to advance,

First to hunt by more than just chance,

Next to fight with little more than a glance.

To StarClan each cat shall be true,

Paw will uphold the gathering Truce,

and be taken to Mothermouth view.

The Third Code

To the will of StarClan a Warrior must bow:

In vigil shall the new Warrior stand,

and silent guard the Clan's homeland.

Clan shall always be the first you feed,

and take fresh-kill to all in need.

The Warrior's trade full of strife,

but not with cold heart still the blood of life.

Nor should spirits be StarClan’s Tithe.

Protection of Clan to warrior be Heartfelt,

With life given to StarClan if need be felt,

And body be buried as they join Silverpelt.

Though paws will be trained to know warrior's way,

Never should Kit hunt alone, by night or by day.

The Fourth Code

The clan be led, always in truth:

When in Silverpelt's gleam the moon is full,

Under StarClan’s Truce the clans shall mull.

Where the Stars named by Ancestors stand before all,

and tell of what over their Clan has come to fall.

Keep true to Clan ritual and please StarClan,

for that is their edict and part of their plan.

The Fifth Code

Medicine Cats though are true to their Clan:

As healers alike they must share the cure,

to any illness for any Clan pure.

At Half-moon Medicine Cats gather near,

At Moonstone where no cat interfere,

And knowledge of ages can be known clear.

Never shall happen on Mothermouth’s journ,

food be consumed and fighting be yearned,

Nor uncouth acts where this ground is turned.

Apprentice of Healers before starting must pass,

Inspection by StarClan, the cats from our past,

Then learning young cat may begin to amass.

When Training's completed again is a test,

To knowledge and skill might StarClan attest,

And name a new Healer, to join the rest.

These cats who know Medicine by StarClan Law,

Shall always be safe from any cat's claw.
