From Children of StarClan

The following information refers to the frabjous Player Characters of Fae~o~the~Wind.

Charredleaf

Charredleaf.jpg

First CoSC Character

Who?

  • An orange-eyed, stocky calico she-cat. RiverClan warrior. Hot-headed, pig-headed and reckless, she is everything Fae is not. However, both RiverClanner and owner share the same friendliness and occasional playfulness.

Creation

  • Charredleaf's original name was to be Badgersnout, after the black bicolour pelt that Fae planned her to have, but because black-based cats were banned at the time, Badgersnout evolved into the current tortoiseshell-and-white Charredleaf CoSC knows and loves today.
  • Badgersnout was conceived on July 29, 2010. After Decline #1 and a series of subsequent edits, the new and improved Charredleaf was approved by Kitsufox on August 4, 2010.

Name Info

  • The prefix of her name, Charred, derives from the warrior's tortoiseshell fur.
    • Fae~o~the~Wind phrased the appearance quite neatly on her character sheet: The tortoiseshell's rippling patches of dark brown, black, cream, and red blend together and resemble soot among dying flames.
    • This prefix was also chosen due to its reference to the remains of a fire; though the blaze may have passed, flames can easily flare back to life among the hot chars (as every good firefighter knows), and so can Charredleaf's excitement or temper.
  • The suffix, -leaf, was concocted from the white spot on Charredleaf's chest that resembles an aspen leaf.

First IC Appearance

Any Future Plans?

  • Fae wants to slowly build up Charredleaf's patience and lengthen the fuse on her short temper. Fae is also tentatively hoping to one day make Charredleaf a mother.

Trivia?

  • She nurses a grudge against otters after one took her brother and clan leader's lives, not to mention that of her clanmate.
  • She is secretly afraid of the river, as she almost drowned when she was a kit. A ThunderClanner saved her.
    • She doesn't mind getting wet or muddy, and is a good swimmer.
  • The impatient Charredleaf finds fishing tedious.
  • She loathes Caligula, even more than she does Foxbright.
  • It may also be interesting to the reader that the ideas of what would become Charredleaf first sprouted in Fae's tangled mind in Florida, USA. Why that is, she has no clue.

Table Info -

  • The Charredleaf2 table was created by the former CoSC member, Quicksilver.
    • The quote in the banner, "A mighty flame followeth a tiny spark", was from Dante Alighieri, who was an Italian poet of the Middle Ages. The quote in the text part of the table, "The lighter the mood/The faster it burns" was, Fae presumes, Quicksilver's creation.
  • Fae later changed the table's quote twice, first to "who's to say what's impossible/and can't be found/i don't want this feeling to go away/please don't go away", which is from one of Fae's all-time favorite songs, Upside Down by Jack Johnson, featured in ;D the movie Curious George (2006), then to"who's to say what's impossible/and can't be found/as my mind begins to spread its wings/there's no stopping curiosity". This latest quote is the one in use today.

Yellowfrost

YellowfrostBanner.png

Second Player Character

Who?

  • Gaunt, sandy-furred tabby tom of yellow eyes, sour temper, raspy voice, scarred throat, and paranoia. WindClan warrior.

Creation

  • Fae had originally created him solely for the PID project, NPC Creation - Deredlinking (Vol. 1) with the intention of filling out Spicestretch's tree (Spicestretch's former owner, Hearthy, left the game without making character sheets for his family). But after making a ludicrously long character sheet for Yellowfrost, Fae fell in love with him and adopted him, of sorts.
  • Yellowfrost came into existence when his brother, Spicestretch did; Hearthy created both on December 4, 2008. However, Yellowfrost was only a name at that time. Fae began the real work on his character sheet on September 6, 2010, and following one decline, Yellowfrost was approved November 29, 2010.

Name Info

  • Fae created her WindClanner to be a light creamy ginger tom so that not only would his appearance fit the prefix of his name, Yellow, but he would also bear a resemblance to the deceased Spicestretch.
  • Fae muses that the suffix, -frost, may also be deemed appropriate, as Yellowfrost cannot be described as the most warm and friendly cat in the clans. She also likes the reference to winter, as parts of his pelt are white as, well, frost.

First IC Appearance

Any Future Plans?

Trivia?

  • He'll still hunt and eat them, of course, but Yellowfrost has disliked rabbits ever since one scratched his throat with its hind-legs while the tom was out on a solo hunt.

Table Info

  • The Yellowfrost table was another of Quicksilver's creations. The quote, "don't interrupt me/when I'm ignoring you", Fae first saw on her friend's shirt.

Cedarpaw (Owlfeather)

Cedarpaw.png

Third Player Character, First Kitten - and First Apprentice

Who?

  • Amiable, peaceable red-and-white young tom of the inquisitive queries, aqua eyes, and snubbed nose. Medicine Cat Apprentice of WindClan.

Creation

  • The Tracked Relation thread of Dusktalon and Owlfeather, Cedarpaw's parents, was created on November 16, 2011. Five days later, their litter page was made. Fae made her adoption offer on January 4, 2011.
  • His sheet was approved on January 25, 2011.

Name Info

  • The prefix of his name was chosen because his red fur is similar to the color of cedar wood, at least according to Quicksilver when the user created the character page of Cedarpaw's sister, Willowkit.
  • 'Cedarsprig' will become Cedarpaw's adult name.
    • Fae likes that the suffix '-sprig' is unique in that she cannot recall coming across it as a warrior cat's name before.
    • Fae also chose this suffix because of this bible passage she likes: "Thus says the Lord God: 'I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar . . . I myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. . . that it may bear branches and produce fruit and become a noble cedar. . . I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up the green tree, and make the dry tree flourish" (Ezekiel 17:22-24, emphasis mine).

First IC Appearance

Any Future Plans?

  • Fae plans to develop closer ties to his family: Dusktalon, his sire; Owlfeather, his mother; Willowkit, his sole littermate; and Frozensky, his aunt.
  • Fae also needs to get Cedarpaw's Medicine Cat training underway- both user and character have much to learn when it comes to the medicine cat lore!

Trivia?

  • Cedarpaw is the second character Fae has adopted (although Yellowfrost's was an unusual adoption at best).
  • He has a distinct short muzzle, hence his snubbed nose.
  • Fae presented Cedarkit as the WC Medicine Cat apprentice on September 29, 2013.
  • Accepted as the WC MCA on October 7, 2013, Cedarpaw is the character that prodded Fae into the CoSC staff.
  • The tom-kit's clumsiness manifests itself whenever he tries to demonstrate fighting moves; so far, he is hopeless at battle maneuvers.

Table Info

  • The old Cedarkit table was the first successful one Fae created.
  • The old quote, "Ambition/is but a shadow of a dream" was derived from Shakespeare's Hamlet.
  • Kitsufox kindly made the current table.
  • The quote in use today, "I'll not forget to remember you . . . and that's a promise" was Fae's own creation, (at least partially) inspired by the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Mintaka

Mintakasig1.jpg

Fourth CoSC Character, Second Fae-Created, First Clanless.

Who?

  • Small centurion in Caligula's Cabal of the Singapura blood, guarded personality, love for the stars, and dark past.

Creation

  • Fae created Mintaka's character sheet in February, 2011, and after Decline #1 and a multitude of edits, she was approved in March, 2011.

Name Info

  • The three siblings, Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka, are named after the three stars in Orion's Belt.

First IC Appearance

Any Future Plans?

  • Because selfish Fae is emotionally attached to little Mintaka, she plans to have her escape the Cabal if CC is to be annihilated. Mintaka will then live in the barn.

Trivia?

  • Mintaka's sire, Rigel, is named after the brightest star in the constellation Orion, the blue-white star that makes up the left foot of the mythological Greek hunter.
  • Maria Isabel was chosen to be Mintaka's dame not only because she would provide Mintaka and family with a link to an already existing CoSC character (Maria Isabel is sister to Pablo), but also because the three stars in Orion's Belt are known as Las Tres Marías (The Three Mary's) in Latin America.
  • Mintaka's personality is partially based off of Vin, the female protagonist of Brandon Sanderson's The Final Empire trilogy. Maria Isabel loosely symbolizes Vin's elder brother, Reen.
  • While Caligula is the sole object of Mintaka's worship, out of all the Cabal, she has bonded most with Zane.

Table Info

  • Thorn, out of great generosity, created the Mintaka1 table.
  • Previous quotes:
    • Fae's first quote, "I wear a mask, a thousand masks/and none of them is me", was from Charles C. Finn's poem, "Please Hear What I'm Not Saying".
    • Saving Jane's "Grace" gave her the second quote: "got a little scared, got a little scared/ in the w o o d s/ and everywhere I turn, everywhere I turn, nothing's g o o d".
  • The current quotes in use: "open me up and you will see/i'm a gallery of broken hearts/am i beyond repair? - just let me be/and give me back my broken parts" were inspired by Ingrid Michaelson's "Be OK".

Navati

Navatisig1copy.jpg

Fifth CoSC Character, Third Adopted, Second Clanless.

Who?

  • Black and white bicolor housecat of the belled collar, prim & sociable nature, and abhorrence of those of the wild

Creation

  • The first version of Navati was created on July 22, 2010 by Eisdnyl14, when she was merely the NPC sister of Zane. Fae made an adoption offer on May 13, 2011, which was accepted 8th of July.

First IC Appearance

Any Future Plans?

  • Despite her initial encounter with a strident Pendragon, Navati has joined the Cats of Camelot
  • Having already secured a position caring for the regal kits, she plans to keep moving up in high society
  • Her religious faith, never better than lukewarm before her interaction with Camelot, will begin to flower (or so Fae is planning)

Trivia?

  • While she recoils from "uncivilizated" cats who do not live with respectable housefolk, Navati loves her feral brother, Zane.
  • Her sole other sibling is Quinter, whose user unfortunately is gone from the game. (*hint hint nudge nudge* for readers who would adopt a cat)

Basilkit (Sunblossom)

Basilkit Banner.jpg

Sixth CoSC Player Character, Fourth Adopted, Second Kitten

Who?

  • The Newborn; blue ticked torbie she-kit of the crippling shyness, daughter of Sunblossom and Lionheart, sister to Wrenkit.
  • Chosen for her ShadowClan origin

Creation

  • March 1, 2013: Kitsufox created the Lionheart and Sunblossom's kit litter page as part of a plot to bolster activity via injecting new life into ShadowClan's nonexistent rising generation
  • In September of the same year, Fae applied to adopt Basilkit and was approved

Name Info

  • Fae was able to name this character herself, and chose Basilkit because she has wanted a Basilblossom for quite a while
    • Basil flowers are white and can have a blueish tint, which could be connected to Basilkit's blue torbie fur
