Navigation: Index Administrative Sdesc Guidelines

IN PROGRESS Information held in the Non-Dilute and Dilute tabs is valid and should be considered a rule. The information for Dilute Modified colors will come soon.

In an effort to clarify and simplify and the confusing subject of color naming. The specific purpose of this policy is to address what each term is considered to mean and how it will translate from the Description into the Short Description. The color words lists given here are NOT all inclusive, but as decisions are made on how to interpret words not already listed here, they will be added.

The in-document sorting herein is designed to also assist in making sure genetics are clearly understood based on descriptions and the like.

  • Italicized text is used to indicate the preferred sdesc terminology. The further forward on the list a term appears, the more preferable that term is.
  • Asterisks (*) are used to indicate terms reserved for cats of pedigree bloodlines. If a cat is purebreed, the appropriate purebreed term becomes the favored term, regardless of italics.
  • Bi-colors (Cats with white in addition to their color) should be named thus unless the entry for that color specifically states otherwise, in an added heading for Bi-color.
