A solidly built silver shaded tom with green eyes
Long Description :
Slateshadow is your average built, not slender and gangly nor short and stocky. He is rather well-muscled and his chest is broad and deep, making it hard for him to fit into some smaller spots. His legs are long and muscular, giving him an agile, confident, and proud stride. His pelt is a rich blue-silver in color, starting with blue at the roots to fading into a silver shading at the tips. The pelt itself thickens in winter enough to keep him warm, though there are days he still feels the cold, and thins in the summer to keep him cool though he still prefers the shade to keep him cool. His eyes are luminous green in color and most of the time, he clearly display his thoughts and feelings while his body language also betrays his emotions to those around him.

Personality
Naturally calm by nature, Slateshadow is well adjusted to serving loyally and wants nothing to do with leading. Jovial and good-natured most of the time, he has his sullen and depressed moments, especially with the deaths of his friends Coyotetooth and Storkstride. Stubborn to the core when he wants to be, if he does not want to do something, chances are he will refuse to do it, or put up a fight in doing so. However, his sense of duty to the clan will make him do just about anything if it had a useful purpose. When his temper is stirred, he can possess a sharp tongue armed with a fierce, yet hard to stir, temper. Like his mentor, Slateshadow finds hard work and loyalty to be the best qualities in apprentices but despite how apprentices can sometimes act, he's young enough he can still remember what it was like and gets along fine with most of them.

Slateshadow was born to an older blue-cream queen, Bluesong, and a cream tabby tom, Beigestrider on a warm night in Green-Leaf at the very start of the Moon of Long Sun. His mother was well known for her hunting abilities and her patience with kits and elders, while his father was known for being a fierce, loyal fighter. The only tom in the litter, they hoped that best of both their abilities would show in their son.
The litter consisted of four kits, with one being a stillborn. The first born and only surviving son, Slatekit, named for his silky, silver-blue kitten fur. The second born was named Rainkit, for her fur was white with gentle blue tabby and cream tabby markings. The third born was named Skykit, for her fur was a rich light blue color that reminded Bluesong of the sky. The last kit was the only other male of the litter, a cream tabby like his sire and sister, but he never drew that needed breath of life after he was birthed. The litter seemed doomed from the start. Aside from the still born, Rainkit and Skykit would never live long enough to see their apprenticeship. Skykit died in her sleep about a moon after her birth and Rainkit fell ill and died at five moons. However, Slatekit thrived and by the beginning of Bare-Leaf, became eager to be apprentice and were possessed by endless energy. When he was out playing in camp one day, he came across Coyotetooth, a tom who was blunt and brutally honest, calling it as he saw it. However, Coyotetooth was loyal and a hard-worker who had proven himself time and again, despite his rougher nature than most of the other clan cats. However, the warrior had became withdrawn and depressed after loosing his only true love. Slatekit had watched them from the entrance of the nursery as he was growing and knew they had loved each other. So when Coyotetooh became sad, the young Slatekit began trying to help him feel better and eventually formed a friendship with the abrasive warrior, who seemed to come out of his shell if only a little after befriending the kit. So when Slatekit was apprenticed, the kit was pleasantly surprised when he was given Coyotetooth as a mentor. Soon after, Bluesong retired to the elder's den. At the time of Slatepaw's apprenticeship, Beigstrider's health was poor and about a moon into his son's training. Despite this, Slatepaw proved himself to be an eager and attentive pupil who always tried his hardest and was a fast learner. With this, he proved himself to be a valued apprentice in his mentor’s eyes. Slatepaw also became best friends with an ebony tom-apprentice, Storkpaw, who was the only one in his litter. They became inseparable friend and the two were certain that they made their mentors proud. When they were about 10 moons, Storkpaw fell ill and ended up in the medicine cat's den. At the same time, Bluesong was called by Starclan and Slatepaw was left at a loss. Thankfully, Coyotetooth was there as both mentor and friend and the young warrior worked twice as hard in Storkpaw's absence. However, despite all the medicine cat did, Storkpaw died a moon before their warrior ceremony ended up being. At 13 moons, Slatepaw was given the name Slateshadow. Unfortunately, life seemed to still want to pick on Slateshadow, and three moons later, Slateshadow lost his last best friend when Coyotetooth was killed on the Thunderpath. Since then, he has tried to keep his chin up and not show how much all this has effected him, but often finds himself growing lonely, especially after the constant companionship from Storkpaw. Now he is trying to make new friends with those in his clan, in attempts to become less lonely. He was killed in a border ambush against Shadowclan to try and punish Shadowclan for straying across their border. |
