Application Status: Accepted
1.) A) I would like to adopt Sparrowsong and feel that I am suited to play her for a variety of reasons.

B) One of the first reasons is that ThunderClan is the only Clan where I do not have a cat, and for this reason Sparrowsong caught my eye. I like her confident personality, and feel that I would be able to roleplay her well and often. She is also a medicine cat, which is an intriguing possibility for me, as I have no characters on CoSC that are in that position. Medicine cattery has always intrigued me, and it’s one of my favorite positions to play, as I’ve done on other sites. It was, therefore, a great opportunity that the position of ThunderClan medicine cat had been opened up, being in one of my favorite Clans in one of my favorite positions; and Sparrowsong’s disposition appealed and still does appeal to me greatly. As a result, I would be very suited to play a character who fills so many of my interests.

C) I’ve been here for a while now—longer than some, and shorter than others. I’ve had a great experience, and I’d like to take it to the next level by joining the staff here. For one thing, all of the staffers here have been friendly and much more helpful than many other sites I’ve been on, especially when I first joined and was still learning the ropes. I’d like to be part of the staff, and be just as helpful and friendly to the future members of CoSC as the rest of the staff was to me. I would be, as I already am, very active on CoSC: when I’m not on a LOA I try to check CoSC at least once a day. As such, I would be much less likely to hold back important threads and discussions.
2.) The young medicine cat had been busy sorting out old leaves of various herbs on the floor of the medicine den from the new ones, her mind categorizing the herbs in her mind and making note of plants she’d need to collect. Juniper leaves. Garlic cloves.

It was sunhigh now, and Sparrowsong was getting hungry. She stretched luxuriously and headed toward the fresh-kill pile, when the sound of raised voices caught her attention. The brown-grey she-cat turned toward the source of the noise: Greypaw and Shadowpaw. The two toms seemed to be bickering every time she turned her back. Setting aside the mouse she’d chosen from the fresh-kill pile, Sparrowsong turned toward the apprentices.

“If you’re supposed to take care of the elders’ ticks, I’ll be happy to supply you with some mouse bile. You may not realize it now, but it’s a more important job than you think.” She touched her tail to each of their shoulders in turn. “We’re Clan cats here, not rogues or loners. We have to work together to get things done. If you two are arguing all the time, that’s prey you just scared off and bedding and ticks that haven’t been taken care of. I’m not saying you have to be best friends, but you can at least be civil to each other. Now, I’ll go get that mouse bile.” She turned her back and ran back toward the medicine den to get the mouse bile.
3.) Sparrowsong tipped her head as she listened to Daisypaw’s description. The medicine cat had just finished sorting yarrow from an herb-gathering outing she’d taken that morning. When Daisypaw had finished, Sparrowsong moved forward to examine the apprentice, moving the fur delicately with her paws. Itchiness and red spots. . .a sure sign of fleas. Not hard at all to treat, provided she treated the bites right and they didn’t get infected. First things first. “Daisypaw, you’re going to have to come every day to me for treatment—it looks like you have a mild case of fleas. You’ll also have to eat garlic cloves until you’re better. I’ll also have to rub your pelt with garlic, mint, basil, and tansy, and put herbs in all the apprentices’ bedding. We can start today. I’ll also have to examine all of your denmates’ fur.” Satisfied, Sparrowsong motioned for Daisypaw to wait as she padded into the medicine den to fetch the appropriate herbs.
4.) It was a good day: they weren’t running low in anything, prey was plentiful; it was newleaf. No cat was sick or injured either, thank StarClan.

Sparrowsong decided to leave the medicine den—most of the herbs were organized; she needed to wait for a few leaves to dry in the sun so that she could store them. But for now, while she waited, she might as well get something to eat. So she headed toward the fresh-kill pile and took a bird for herself. After she’d finished it, the medicine cat stood and looked around the camp. Where was everyone?
5.) I can picture Sparrowsong as keeping her proud manner of knowing her place in the Clan. She would not become vain and very self-important, but she would realize her status in the Clan as the medicine cat and daughter of the leader. She would expect respect, and in turn give it back to the members of her Clan, recognizing their value as well. As she matures as the full medicine cat of ThunderClan, Sparrowsong’s sense of responsibility would grow. As a result, she would become both confident in her abilities as medicine cat and work all the harder at it. Another reason for the latter quality will be her continuing willingness to live up to her family’s name. As a result, she will be balanced by her belief of the respect and status she has in the Clan, and the humbleness given to her by her constant desire to do better. While she will be confident in her duties, she will still strive to impress; not by doing only what is expected of her, but going beyond.

As medicine cats are usually the receivers of prophecies and omens, and as such have much to do with plots, it would be useful to have at least a few ideas for plots, of which I have. Some of my ideas include: maybe some more inter-Clan romance; some Clans wanting more territory than they already have, and so either exploring un-owned lands or pushing at the borders of their neighbors; and maybe a disease spreading through the medicine cats’ herbs that makes them useless and spreads quickly to other plants.

1.)
1A) I feel I am suited to play this character because of many reasons. Throughout my time here, I have been careful to develop my characters well and make them their own cat. Outside of roleplaying, I go over careful little details that help to make their personality. (Ex: Drusilla is very clingy because as a young kit the only way her mother paid attention to her was if she made a scene.) I try to “become” the character in a way, so that they stay consistent and true to their backstories.

Also, I have always enjoyed characters that live in a shadow of a family member. In this case, Sparrowsong lives in the shadow of her half-brother, Fiercestar. She also has her own importance and agenda to keep strait, and won’t let other’s bring her down. While keeping the strong and confident look of a leader’s daughter, she makes sure to not let that get to her head.

1B) I feel that I should be admitted to the staff because I am a loyal and hardworking person. As some of you may know, when I joined CoSC I was a novice RPer, and it showed. I had all sorts of information that was inaccurate and my posts were flat out awful. Though, with time I gradually improved and made longer, higher quality posts. Not only this, I have been active the whole time. I check my CoSC at a minimum of three times a week, and was one of the few members still active pre-epic activity check.

Recently, I have also tried spreading the word of CoSC on places like DeviantArt and even just to my friends. I try to help new players in a kind way because I know it was the kindness of other players that has made me improve so much. I am always open to RP and love doing it!
2.)
Sparrowsong turned as the young apprentice entered her den and spoke. She set down the Yarrow she was sorting through and nodded at the young cat’s explanation. “Well, let me just take a quick look here then,” she said as she looked at Daisypaw’s pelt. She saw movement and immediately knew what it was. “I’m afraid you got fleas Daisypaw, nothing too serious though,” she said as she went to look at her herb stock. She grabbed some garlic clove in her mouth and dropped some in front of the apprentice. “Now eat this, all of this, while I get some more herbs ready. You’re going to be getting a few washes every day now for about a half-moon, alright? Once I give you a wash I’ll put some herbs in your nest as well as the other apprentices. They’ll all need a check now too,” Sparrowsong said, trailing off near the end. She just hoped that not many of the other cats had fleas; she’d hate to see so many sick cats.
3.)
Sparrowsong had just settled down for a meal when the two apprentices burst though the camp fighting. When insults started flying, Sparrowsong quickly sat up and stood between the two quarreling apprentices. “Enough!” she hissed, looking at both toms. “It is an honor to care for our elders! They have kept us safe for many moons, and are being rewarded with a time of rest and peace,” she paused as she glared at both toms. Her tail flicked in annoyance, they were brothers for StarClan’s sake! She didn’t care that they had different mothers; they were old enough to stop acting like kits. “Now because you two obviously have too much time on your paws, why don’t you see if any of the queens need help too. Maybe that will distract you from your kit-like behavior,” she hissed with gritted teeth. No matter what their parents did, they needed to accept the fact that they were brothers and both contributors to the clan. The sooner they shaped up, the better.
4.)
Sparrowsong awoke to a cold burst of wind coming into her den. Flicking her ear in annoyance, she yawned. Peeking her head out of her den, she saw the sun was just starting to rise. “Well, guess I’d better get up anyways,” she mumbled to herself, heading to the fresh kill pile. Before grabbing a meal, she stretched. Feeling her shoulders become loose and her back become less tense, she sat down to eat. As she looked in the pile though, she noticed it was very pitiful and nearly empty. She had better let the elders eat before her, they needed it more. Since she was up and around though, she figured she might as well see if anyone else was up. The patrol members should be coming back anytime now.
5.)
I would love to have Sparrowsong assist a cat that is seriously injured, or assist a she-cat in labor. Anything out of the ordinary would be great, but everyday things are cool too. When Sparrowsong grows older, a medicine cat apprentice would be great to train as well. I don’t really picture Sparrowsong living an out-of-the-ordinary medicine cat life, unless that is what is necessary to move a plot along.

Speaking of plots, I had a few ideas to share. I’m not sure if this has happened before (in my knowledge it hasn’t) but maybe a good event for Newleaf or Greenleaf would be if twolegs started capturing clan cats. Sort of like a Humane Society group rescuing strays, only with the clans. This could intertwine Clan cats and Camelot cats together, for the clans may need their help to free love ones. It could start with a few cats being captured, and only one cat escaping. The news is spread and then more cats are captured. It seemed like a fun little idea, but that’s just me of course! I hope to bring more ideas to the table soon.
