ShadowClan vanquished the heron. Oakheart was killed and one of Elmstar's lives was lost in the battle, but the cats succeeded in slaying the bird. Now the heavy snows and cold of a grim leaf-bare threaten the Clan. Elmstar is determined to keep everyone alive, but prey grows scarcer and may need to be sought beyond the Clan's borders, such as the one at the Forest's Edge.
