Long Description :
Gate was a light ginger tabby tom with vivid yellow eyes and a scarred pelt. He had a wiry build and a limber grace from years of balancing on fencetops and leaping up and down from trees.

Personality
Gate was a friendly, even-tempered tom who enjoyed the company of cats and Twolegs alike. He had a kind, soft heart, and made a conscious effort to treat all justly and with respect and compassion. Though he was usually easy-going and did not mind others making decisions, he could stand his ground when the time came. A deep, pensive cat who appreciated peace and quiet, one of Gate's most cherished pastimes was sitting up in a tree and gazing out as far as he could, drinking in the beauty and sense of liberty he saw in the open horizon. A roamer by nature, he never could stay cooped up too long, craving the adventure and freedom of the life as a semi-feral.

Full History :
Ever since he first caught sight of the domestic she-cat, Isis, while on one of his rounds of the neighborhood and struck up a conversation with her, Gate visited her daily, and the pair slowly fell in love. Their three she-kits were born in Isis' owner's house not too long afterwards. Isis named the oldest two kittens Bastet and Horus, while the youngest one was named Firefly by Gate. Their children proved to be a rambunctious trio, and both new parents had their paws full trying to keep up with them. Gate loved all of them, but felt a special bond with Firefly. The tom was crushed when Bastet and Firefly were taken from him, given away to Isis' owner's niece, but there was nothing he could do.
When Horus began showing an interest in what lay beyond the walls of her home, Gate took to bringing her on explorations of the outside, though he flatly refused to allow her to take a pawstep out of the Twoleg place, and always made sure she returned to Isis in the Twoleg house. One day, while wandering by himself, Gate came across his long-lost daughter, Bastet. Once his initial astonishment abated, Gate was overjoyed to see her again. For a time they journeyed side by side, catching up with each other, but it did not last long. When Bastet told Gate that she was going off on her own again, the tom couldn't have been more shocked, or more pained, that he was, once again, losing her. Nevertheless, he let Bastet make her choice, and they parted ways. That was the last time he ever saw her. Gate died after stumbling upon a fight between two feral toms competing for territory. When Gate saw the larger tom, Paladin, about to strike the final blow on his smaller, wounded adversary, Gate intervened, stepping between the two. Enraged, Paladin fiercely attacked Gate instead, and slayed the already aging Gate. |
