1.) | Application Type- Adoptable Character existing PC (Bluepool) Bluepool is a dreamer, which is why I believe she would mainly be a good deputy for Cinderback. Cinderback is a tom who admires dreamers according to his character sheet, and Bluepool has one dream, to become deputy. She works her hardest at being a good warrior, and has the ambition and desire to lead. Her dedication to the task at hand shows in Oh What a Beautiful Morning (11MW). She does chat with Thornberry and Fernheart, but all the while her mind is focused on hunting. In Under the Bridge (22MW) she is dedicated to catching one more vole before heading back to camp, showing that she loves what she does, aiming to be a deputy, and I’ve interpreted Cinderback’s view of “loving what you do” in that. This thread also shows a constant self-awareness, where Bluepool begins to believe that she needs to change her sociability aspects in order to achieve her goal of becoming leader. Despite her dislike of Walnutfall, she tries not to create drama by allowing him to have his own opinion in Fishing is What we Do (11FF) She has already formed her own opinions, but is not about to thrust them on any other cat, which is a value I believe that Cinderback possesses Fishing for Fowls (26FF) Shows a conversation between Bluepool and Cinderback. Towards the end, a miscommunication of sorts leads Cinderback to be concerned as to why she left, but she comes, vowing to continue her quest. It is continued To the River (26FF) where Cinderback, Thornberry, and Bluepool fish and have friendly conversation. She is able to show sharp reactions and judgement in Under the Bridge (22 MW) when she thinks her Clanmates are in danger. She asks questions of them, to make sure that they are alright, and that nobody is injured or hurt. Overall, I believe that Bluepool is a good pick for deputy under Cinderback because she shares many of the values that Cinderback holds and most importantly is a dreamer who follows through on her dreams, something that might attract Cinderback when he chooses his deputy.

2.) | ’That is not right’’ Bluepool thought as she overheard the mentor practically yowl at his apprentice for taking food before the elders. She knew what needed to be done, the mentor needed to be taught how to have some understanding. This apprentice, Goldpaw, was barely out of the nursery and was trembling with fear. With a deep breath, Bluepool spoke. "Robinbright, if you haven’t noticed your apprentice is scared of you at the moment. A mentor’s duty is to teach a cat how to be a warrior, and this is not doing anything productive in terms to that. If she is too scared to learn from you, then we won’t have a good warrior, which is the ultimate goal, am I right?" She paused for a moment before continuing "Goldpaw, Robinbright is correct in that the Clan comes first. I know you made a mistake, we all do. We need to learn from this mistake instead of wallowing in it. I think that you and Robinbright need to discuss the values of the code later tonight, when you both have settled down."Bluepool mewed. She trotted back towards the fresh kill pile, mission completed.
3.) | Bluepool was on a solo hunting mission. It was early in her mission, and she had not caught anything at the moment because she smelled something suspicious. The task at hand was still in her mind, but the scent was too overwhelming for her to continue it. She came closer and closer to the scent, and then she saw one of the worst things she had ever seen in her life. A body. She investigated the body, and upon closer inspection it was one of her Clanmates. Gingerfoot was dead. Bluepool instantly felt a pang of grief, but then she tasted the air and the grief was immediately replaced again with the sleuthing state of mind. One more taste, and she knew what had happened to Gingerfoot. Rogues. She was not going to stop until she made sure the area was safe. The stench was very strong, so the death had happened moments ago. She needed to go back and warn the Clan, and ask for support. If this group of rouges was able to kill a single warrior, she needed to get backup as soon as possible. She turned and raced back to camp. Nobody was going to hurt her Clan. Not if she could help it.
4.) | The moment she achieved the rank of deputy was one of the happiest in Bluepool’s life. It meant that she had the possibility of becoming leader one day, her lifelong goal. She was thrilled to continue on this ambition, and was amazed when Cinderback called out her name as deputy. It was mid-morning. Bluepool was ready to go out on a hunting patrol, but she did not want to go out alone. She knew that many cats were on a patrol, and so she figured that she would call out to the clearing to see if anyone wanted to join her. "Does anyone wish to join me on an hunting expedition?" She said loudly. This was going to be a wonderful opportunity to get to know her Clanmates even better.
5.) | I believe that I am qualified to become a staff member because I have roleplayed at CosC for over 3 years now and I know how things work around here. I have raised two kits into full grown warriors, and I am currently working on my third kit. I have a cat in all four Clans, and I am involved in plots, playing Alderleaf in the FFtF plot. I believe I have shown dedication and enthusiasm about the site, and I enjoy getting to know new members and old members, I try to get along with everyone. There are many things I can do to help RiverClan. For one, I can post more casual threads, thereby increasing activity in RiverClan and working towards a general bond between the members. I also have a few ideas for community involvement activities as well. I bring another fresh new perspective on issues and ideas to the staff. Another trait I bring is a creative/artsy mind, (general graphics knowledge). I have a lot of ideas for CosC as a community that I can bring, as well as experience as a member that has been here since the old site. I can provide a very good attitude when things get rough, and I bring dedication and a passion for CoSC, and a desire to better the site. |

1.) | Although Otterscar has never had a chance to be used in active roleplay, as her original player seems to have absconded just after creating her, I believe that her character sheet (in addition to the roleplay which I would add to her resume should she be accepted) qualifies her to take up the position of RiverClan deputy. Otterscar is a mature cat, but not an elderly one; she is late-Warborn, and thus has a deeply-ingrained selflessness towards her Clan. She has seen loss, but is not crippled by it; rather, it has made her stronger and allowed her to detach herself from sentimentality in favor of serving RiverClan. Although Otterscar is somewhat taciturn, she is direct and no-nonsense, qualities which are required in the day-to-day running of a Clan's patrols and other duties. Otterscar does harbor a softer side which would suit Cinderback's fondness for dreamers; Otterscar places a high value on friendships and family, though she might not appear thus from her strictly-business exterior. Additionally, while Otterscar might not say as much, she does love RiverClan and doing her part to keep it strong; thus, she is in a way living out her dream, and is very much worthy of Cinderback's good opinion. In summary, Otterscar is a good fit for the position of RiverClan deputy due to her down-to-earth nature, her seniority and past experience, and her inner appreciation of the bonds of family and friends.

2.) | She found it in the form of one very small apprentice and one very large warrior. Otterscar's eyes flicked from Robinbright to Goldpaw, assessing the situation. Robinbright's accusation was obviously true, from the way Goldpaw was huddled guiltily against the ground; then again, it would do the Clan no good to lose an apprentice to a death by fear of her mentor. Goldpaw will be punished, but not like this. "Robinbright," said Otterscar loudly, coming to stand before the large tabby warrior and thus shielding his apprentice from his glare. "Calm yourself. You're not helping anything by getting so worked up." Then, turning to Goldpaw, "When the morning hunting patrol comes back in with their catch, you'll take the elders some prey and apologize to them." Otterscar returned to Robinbright and added, "And later, Robinbright, once you've calmed down and the elders have been fed, you can take Goldpaw out hunting to make up for what she ate."
3.) | And then she caught the smell of cat-blood. Otterscar dropped her rabbit and fell into a tense crouch, ears and eyes swiveling to find the source of the scent. She spotted the little heap of fur some foxlengths away, and Otterscar's tail went rigid behind her as she cautiously approached the body. She recognized it, of course, as a Clanmate; but there was no time now to do more than give it the once-over and ascertain the cause of death. Otterscar's nose twitched -- this was the work of cats, strange cats, and not some larger predator. From the scents there had been more than one, but fewer than five. A good six-strong patrol would be enough to drive them off. Otterscar turned towards camp and set off at a run, anger lending her speed and strength. That life was not theirs to take. It was RiverClan's. And they'll pay it back in full before I'm done with them.
4.) | Otterscar's eyes fell upon the opening to the Medicine Den, and she moved towards it. She knew all was well where the rest of the Clan was concerned, but it wouldn't hurt to check up on Heronflight and see if the medicine cat needed anything. Otterscar had no qualms about facing Heronflight and her sharp tongue; she respected the young healer for her ability to get things done, even if she tended to do so with a serving of scorn on the side. "Heronflight," called Otterscar, stepping into the den and blinking into the sudden dimness. "Do you need anything?"

1.) | Application Type – Existing PC (Walnutfall) Although he is young, Walnutfall is one of the more politically-minded members of RiverClan. He holds an interest in the goings-on of not just his own Clan, but the others as well. Despite his background of being born outside of the Clan, he tries his hardest—even more so, it seems, than the average warrior—to express loyalty to RiverClan. In some ways, Walnutfall is rather mature for his age and doesn’t hesitate to show it. Most notably is in Leave Me Alone, I'm Lonely, which depicts Walnutfall debating with Heronflight and Charredleaf about the leaders, prophecies, and whatnot. It’s clear he isn’t afraid to speak his mind, but he never outright criticizes Sleekstar or his Clan. He listens to what the other two cats have to say and respects their right to argue with him but isn’t necessarily influenced by them based on what they have to say. He speaks to both of them in a very direct, practical, no-nonsense fashion, something that would come in handy when gathering patrols together and giving out orders as deputy; he knows how to have authority over others simply by the way he speaks. Moreover, some of his ideas put forward in his argument may seem radical, but it certainly would go with Cinderback’s admiration of dreamers and cats with big ideas. In short, Walnutfall would make a good deputy for Cinderback because of his practicality and his direct attitude, which would help him command the rest of the Clan and maintain his authority. He also has several attributes that Cinderback personally admires and can relate to, including his opinionated manner and ability to dream.

2.) | Walnutfall had just gotten back from leading a border patrol, and he was waiting for the hunting patrol to return when he heard a snarl behind him. Whipping around, he saw Robinbright chastising his apprentice in a tone menacing enough to scare all the birds out of the forest. The little scrap whom his anger was directed at was understandably terrified. “Robinbright,” the gray tabby called as he approached the pair, “I’m sure your apprentice now understands what she did wrong. Yelling at her anymore won’t help her learn.” He turned to Goldpaw and meowed, “You’re still fresh out of the nursery, so a mistake like this is nothing out of the ordinary. However, if I hear about you eating before the elders again, don’t expect any sympathy from me, or anyone else, for that matter. I will suggest that you and Robinbright both accompany me this afternoon when I go hunting. Any prey you catch can be directly given to the elders.”
3.) | He had caught the scent of a rabbit and was following it with excitement, eager to catch such a prize meal for his Clan. He hadn’t had prey as big as a plump rabbit in moons now, and the hunger in his belly seemed to grow with each passing moment that he followed the trail. Suddenly, the delectable smell of prey was replaced by another smell, a foul smell that Walnutfall recognized as the scent of a dead cat. Moving slowly through the undergrowth, he quickly spotted the heap of fur and flesh that rested on the ground. He didn’t have to see the face to recognize the scent of a fellow RiverClanner, albeit one that was masked by those of several unfamiliar cats. Walnutfall quickly assessed that the killers were not Clan cats, but rogues, and they weren’t too far off from the body. With no hesitation, Walnutfall sprinted back towards camp, a little disappointment about not hunting the rabbit but knowing that finding the rogues was much more important. He would need to inform Cinderstar, gather a patrol, put an extra sentry on the camp entrance…and of course, make sure that the rest of the cats were kept safely in camp. He wasn’t sure at this point what had provoked the rogues to kill his Clanmate, but he knew that, whatever the reasoning, they might not hesitate to do it again.
4.) | The patrols had been organized, the apprentices were off training with their mentors, the kits weren’t causing havoc around camp…there wasn’t much else for Walnutfall to do this morning other than sit himself down by the fresh-kill pile and maybe eat a sparrow or two, waiting until the patrols came back or Heronflight wanted him to collect herbs with her or whatever else a deputy could do. It seemed that a good portion of the job, after the hectic organizing of patrols in the morning, was just waiting to be of assistance, to be the rest of the Clan’s link to the leader whenever they needed help. Walnutfall didn’t really mind; he enjoyed having a short time in the morning to just be alone with this thoughts and contemplate the state of his Clan as well as the others—the latter being mostly speculation, of course.
5.) | I feel I would contribute to the CoSC staff because I am an active player who has consistenly RPed with my existing characters. Having been at CoSC for almost two years, I've learned the ropes and have contributed to the Project Info Drive as well as other discussions concerning the improvement of the quality of the game. I have many ideas for the site, IC and OOC, and I feel like being part of the staff would allow me to act on those ideas. Finally, if ever I did have to be absent from CoSC for some time, I would be sure to file a LOA.
