1.) Using Continued Character-Lightningsplash

Character:Lightningsplash
Gathering First Green 2008
I couldn't find many threads that I thought would show Lightningsplash's ability to be deputy, but I thought the one at the Gathering would be the best as it shows she is loyal and hard headed, which I think are good qualities for a deputy. Lightningsplash does have a temper, but she has the ability to over come it if she must. She usually thinks things through before she acts, unless she has lost her temper which in that case she can be a bit rash. I feel that I should include that since it is a major part of her personality. Lightningsplash has a kind heart, but doesn't choose favorites, so she would be fair to every one.
2.) Lightningsplash heard the commotion comming from over by the freshkill pile and went to investigate. There she saw Goldstripe towering over the young apprentice Ratpaw. Goldstripe, what is going on here? As she heard what had happened she turned her gaze on the cowering apprentice. Ratpaw, I know that you are new to apprentice ship but you know the rules regarding freshkill. I want you to go tend to the elders now, and later you will bring them freshkill before you eat anything. She kept a stealy gaze on the young cat. Now go. Your mentor will come find you later.
As Ratpaw ran to the elder's den Lightningsplash turned slowly to Goldstripe with a hard look in her eyes. I understand you trying to set your apprentice straight, but I will not have you treating her in that way. She is new to this whole buisness and you need to learn to restrain your temper. Flicking her tail she jerked her head at the golden tom as he lowered his head. From now on you must learn to think beofore you act. She snapped. As he nodded his head in an affirmative, she turned on her heel and left.
3.) Hearing the call come from the shadow covered path Lightningsplash jerked her head up and peered through the darkness to get a good look at the warrior. He didn't look like hostle and his scent told her that he was indeed from RiverClan. Getting to her paws she took a step forward and called through the darkness to the warrior. Come with me and I'll get my leader. But any funny buisness and I'll rake your fur without a second thought. She threw a warning glare at the tom.
As they reached the elder's den, Lightningsplash called out so the clan could hear, Elmstar, a RiverClan cat has a message for you.
4.) Lightningsplash felt her fur slowly stand on end as she caught a glimps of the intruder. His scent washed over her, it was none of the clans. He didn't look like he was making any trouble, but she didn't want to take any chances. Approaching him confidently but cautiously, she called to him.
Who are you? She hissed And why are you intruding on ShadowClan territory?
5.) Well, I have been on CoSC for almost a year now and I love it. Being able to be part of the staff would be such a great experience and I would really enjoy getting to help make it grow. I have finally figured out how everything works here and so would be able to help out with whatever you needed me to do. I feel that I would bring alot of hard work and devotion to the staff. I'm very organized and try to finish whatever I have to do as soon as possible as to not hold things up. I could also bring, I hope, alot of new ideas for plots or make ups of different essays. I have a large imagination which I hope would help out in that department.
That's why I think I would be good for he staff, thanks.

Declined Application from Moose

1.) A) Adopt Fogdancer

I think I am suited to play Fogdancer because I already have two cats in ShadowClan and I feel like I know the Clan itself well. Bearshine, one of my characters, was Fogdancer's apprentice, and Squirrelfur is a queen with Fogdancer at the moment so I feel like I also know the character well enough to be able to roleplay her.

With Fogdancer, I'd plan on slowly increasing her self-confidence in herself and her position. She would become even more protective of her Clan and her kits, and would develop an intense passion for her duty as deputy. If she ever became leader, the deputy position would prepare her well for the position and she'd have the confidence to make decisions that she thought would be right for ShadowClan.
2.) Fogdancer's day was going well. The weather was pleasant, and her Clan was in peace. The peacefulness of the moment was shattered though, when she heard Goldstripe's harsh voice scolding his apprentice, Ratpaw, who was newly apprenticed. Ratpaw. Goldstripe. Come. She flicked her tail in the direction of Elmstar's den. She stopped right outside of it, and the mentor and apprentice appeared before her. Ratpaw. You should know by now that the warrior code forbids a warrior from taking food before queens and elders. I expect better from you. In payment, you have to search the elders for ticks and hunt for them for the rest of the day. If the elders say you have done your duty, you can eat then. Sagepelt or Ravenblink should have some mouse bile for you. The apprentice nodded solemnly and went in the direction of the medicine cat's den.

She then turned to Goldstripe. Goldstripe. You scared the fur off of Ratpaw. Remember, she is only seven moons old, barely an apprentice. You were right in the sense that she was disobeying the warrior code, and I punished her for it. But it appears as if you didn't reinforce the warrior code well enough in your lessons. I suggest that you have another lesson in the warrior code, and if she breaks it again I will bring you and her to Elmstar. Fogdancer warned. Now, since there was no prey in the prey pile, you should form a hunting patrol. She continued. Goldstripe was then off to the warrior's den to complete his task.
3.) A voice pierced the clearing where Fogdancer was on watch duty. A RiverClan cat was bringing a message from Wetstar.
'Who are you?' Fogdancer asked as she saw the RiverClan cat come out of the forest. She unsheathed her claws, preparing for an attack. I am Fogdancer, deputy of ShadowClan. Any news that needs to go to Elmstar can go through me first. I will make sure I get it to him. Fogdancer mewed to the cat.
'You should not trespass our borders again. I will take you to Elmstar and he can deal with you. She motioned for the cat to follow her, and waited until he came with her.
4.) Get out of ShadowClan territory. Now. Fogdancer mewed to the intruder in a low, meanacing tone. She snarled her teeth and unsheathed her claws. The cat didn't seem to be hunting, or The warning seemed to work, as the cat was startled and stared at her. I will escort you to the end of our territory. This isn't a place for exploring. It is very dangerous, and if you come here again I will make sure ShadowClan warriors teach you a very important lesson of respecting Clan boundaries.
5.) I feel like I'm qualified to join the staff because I've been an active member of the site for over two years, and I haven't missed an activity check yet. I can bring new, fresh ideas to the plots of the site. I can also increase activity within the site itself. I can also be friendly and helpful to new members. Finally I feel like I'm qualfied because I get along with both staff and members very well.

Sorry about the formatting issues again.

Accepted Application from Nessarose

Application Status: Accepted
1.) I would like to adopt Fogdancer and feel that I am suited to play her. One reason that I did not apply with a completely new character is that I want Fogdancer, as a character, to continue as a deputy. I feel that she has wonderful potential as the deputy of ShadowClan, and I would hate to see her be eliminated. I like her loyal, even-tempered personality, and I would enjoy roleplaying her and I believe that I would be good at it. I’ve been roleplaying a character in ShadowClan for a few months now, and I’ve found that I enjoy it and I would love to bring more activity to ShadowClan and help it continue to be the Clan it is by being active and posting in-character with Fogdancer so that others can find roleplaying in ShadowClan as enjoyable as I have found it so far.

As I said before, Fogdancer has great potential as a character and I would, if I were to play her, both keep her personality even as I adapted to playing her, and, over time, mature her to become the best character she can be, as character growth is a part of interesting roleplay and a mark of a good roleplayer. Fogdancer would continue to grow self-confidence in her role as a deputy and as a mother, serving her Clan through loyalty and hard work, as her disposition calls for. She would still remain humble: although she has grown confident in her duties, she will rarely overestimate herself and will believe that she is not entitled to boasting of her strength and aptitude and remain respectful and loyal toward her Clanmates. She will continue to love her kits as they grow, although she will continue to put her Clan first.
2.) The grey she-cat stretched, her tail kinking high over her back as she slid her paws over the open ground just outside the sheltered warriors’ den. It was still early on in the day; there was time for hunting. She’d send out some patrols, too; prey hadn’t been exactly plentiful lately. Fogdancer’s ears pricked to pick up the angry yowls of Goldstripe. From the sound of it, he was lecturing his apprentice. Fur rising slightly, Fogdancer hurried to the mentor. Her ears twisted slightly back as she took in young Ratpaw. She was barely out of the nursery! How did Goldstripe expect her to know every rule? The deputy strode up to Goldstripe and stared at him hard. “Goldstripe,” she began, “as a mentor and therefore a trusted warrior, you should know better. Ratpaw hasn’t even been training a moon. How could she remember every rule? She is young and untrained. Instead of expecting more of her than she knows, you could teach her what she has done wrong, and why it was wrong, and then help her make it right.” Fogdancer turned toward Ratpaw and put her tail on the frightened apprentice’s shoulder. “Both of you should rest to collect yourselves. Goldstripe, you can lead a hunting patrol, and take Ratpaw with you. You can tell her, calmly, what she has done wrong, and then help her get some prey for the elders.”
3.) Fogdancer’s ears pricked as a cat she did not recognize entered her line of sight—he smelled strongly of RiverClan. The grey she-cat sprang to her paws and stepped in front of the camp entrance instinctively, facing the other cat. She would have to take him to Elmstar, of course, and preferably without waking the entire camp. But she’d make sure he didn’t do that. For a heartbeat, she considered escorting him back to his own territory, but then instantly dismissed it as a bad idea. She’d be leaving the camp unguarded, for one thing, and Elmstar would have to know about this. Also, he could wait to attack her while she was all alone. Fogdancer couldn’t see or smell any other cats. The RiverClan warrior would be walking alone into a camp filled with warriors of another Clan. He would have to be very stupid to attack.

She leaned forward and spoke in a low voice. “I’ll take you to see Elmstar. I don’t think you’re going to attack, but if you do, I won’t be so kind, and neither will the rest of ShadowClan.” She stepped back, gesturing for the RiverClanner to step in front of her so that she could watch his back.
4.) Fogdancer kicked dirt over the body of the squirrel, sheathing her claws as her prey was gradually buried. It was only her first piece of prey on her little solo hunting trip, and she’d come back for it later, after she had hunted a bit more. She raised her head, and the fur on her back raised as she took in the scent of an unfamiliar cat—one that smelled like no Clan but lacked the look of a kittypet. “Hey!” Fogdancer yowled, walking quickly toward the rogue. He didn’t look hostile, or like he was trying to hunt; more like he was simply exploring the land. “This is ShadowClan territory here! There is a large group of cats living here, myself included, that doesn’t take kindly to intruders like you. I’ll escort you to our border, but next time you come, I won’t be so amicable, and neither will the rest of our Clan.”
5.) I have been a member of this site for several months now, and I have enjoyed many things about it, from the roleplay to the characters to my fellow members. I would be a responsible member of the staff, and uphold the rules of CoSC just as I have so far. I’d also be able to contribute some ideas for plots as a member of the staff: some of my ideas for plots include problems with hordes of rats forming near the Carrionplace, maybe some dogs on the loose causing trouble for ShadowClan, and quicksand pits forming near the marshes that are placed so that cats think they’re safely away from the marshes and disguised by undergrowth.

Declined Application from Wildlark

Application Status: Declined
1.) I would like to adopt Fogdancer for several reasons, but probably the biggest reason would be this: I admire her as a character. My three current characters—Fernheart, Walnutfall, and Meriwether—are all different ages, come from different backgrounds, and have very different personalities, and while I enjoy playing all three of them, I think Fogdancer would be my favorite character to RP if my application is accepted. What I like about her is that she is able to have authority and be extremely loyal to her Clan, yet she has a heart that shows even when she is giving orders, and she is able to see the best in other cats. One significant example when she chose Marshhawk to be the father of her kits; despite him being weaker than all the other warriors in ShadowClan, Fogdancer saw him as a good friend and a great father. And when Marshhawk was found dead, Fogdancer was sad for a while, but she moved on, knowing that her Clan came first. It is this ability to be a loyal deputy and a caring friend and mother at the same time that really got me wanting to adopt Fogdancer.

If I were able to role-play with Fogdancer, I would have her mature more as a deputy and as a Clan cat overall. Her ability to be loyal and caring at the same time would be tested when her kits become apprentices and, eventually, warriors. She would have to learn to encourage them, yet not leading her Clanmates to think that she is privileging them because they are her kits. At times, she would question if the deputy life is right for her, and perhaps hint at this question in her conversations with Elmstar. But when it comes time to organize border patrols, Fogdancer will continue with her duties, knowing that it is the best way to help her Clan, whether she likes it or not.
2.) “’’’I’m sure Ratpaw has the utmost respect for her entire Clan, Goldstripe.’’’” Fogdancer approached the warrior, her yellow eyes stern. “’’’As a mentor, you must chastise your apprentice when necessary, but you must also be patient with them. Ratpaw has recently begun her training and still has much to learn about the ways of a warrior. If you are too harsh on her, the poor apprentice will more likely become terrified of you than learn from her mistake.’’’”

Her gaze softened a trifle as she turned to Ratpaw. “’’’The warrior code itself states that the weaker members of the Clan must be fed before the ones that are able to hunt for themselves. Since you have only been an apprentice for a moon and are not expected to have memorized the code, you will not be punished for your mistake. However, I was just about to round up a hunting patrol, and I would love it if you two could join us. Whatever you catch will go to the elders.’’’” She narrowed her eyes at both of them to show that that was an order.
3.) Fogdancer’s ears pricked as her Clan’s name reached camp. Her first thought was of an ambush, and she instinctively unsheathed her claws. But the sound of only four paws approached the camp’s entrance.

”RiverClan, you say?” she echoed, still a little wary. She did recognize the warrior from Gatherings. “If this really is important, I’ll bring you to Elmstar myself.” She looked around for another warrior and saw Rowanfall wandering towards the fresh-kill pile. “Rowanfall, come here. I will need you to guard camp while I escort this warrior to Elmstar. Chances are you won’t need to guard for very long, but just in case, my turn ends at sunhigh. If you’re still on watch by then, go find Bearshine; he’s supposed to be on duty after me. I’ll make my time up later.”

Once Rowanfall was stationed at the entrance, Fogdancer led the RiverClan cat to the leader’s den. “Elmstar, you have a visitor with a message from Wetstar.” After the RiverClan warrior went inside, the ShadowClan deputy sat on the outside of the den, silently transferring herself to the temporary position as bodyguard for Elmstar until all traces of RiverClan left camp.
4.) “Intruder!” Fogdancer called to the stranger in an unwavering voice. She raised her tail to further signal her authority. “Who are you and what are you doing on ShadowClan territory? You are clearly not a Clan cat, but that is no excuse for crossing the marked boundaries that even a kit could scent.”
5.) I feel like a staff position can help me contribute a lot more to CoSC than just a regular member position. I joined back in September, and now I have three characters, each of them very unique from each other. I have also made contributions to Project Information Drive, as well as participated in various discussions and helping to form the Omen Meanings system. I already have a ton of plot ideas—more involvement from the non-Clan cats (the only part they’ve seemed to play in the three major plots is adding to the casualties of Sair Fen and the Killingcough); the river flooding, causing damage to RiverClan and ThunderClan and indirectly affecting WindClan and ShadowClan; various domesticated animals like dogs and horses being released into the forest, as well as non-native species that destroyed the native ones and make it harder for the Clans to find food; a locust swarm destroying part of the forest as well as the surrounding farmland, prompting Twolegs to develop into the Clans’ territories…my list of ideas goes on and on, and while some of them might not work in the game, I’m sure that a lot of them could be very helpful to CoSC. In the past, I have worked as a staff member of various Wiki and RP sites; I know a lot about Wiki formatting and I have never been banned or put on restricted access from any RP site or forum. I come onto CoSC almost every day, except when I’m on LOA, which I will make sure to fill out if I am ever on vacation or RL starts to take control of me. Finally, if, for some reason, I can not continue to be a hard-working member of the CoSC staff, I will step down from my position without a fuss and possibly stay on as a regular member of CoSC.
