Why so melancholy?
Heronflight had picked this morning for training after observing the sky. It wasn't bright like yesterday. It was raining. Light rain, but rain enough. Gathering herbs later would be more bearable. "Hailpaw," the medicine cat meowed coolly, "tell me about the current phase of the moon and what it entails."

A wondrous future lies before you

"It is the start of the Waxing Moon," Hailpaw said, turning to address her mentor. She had been seated near the entrance of the den, watching what she knew would be one of the last rainfalls of the season. The tortie she-cat had watched the moon last night as any other. Thus, she knew that the Young Moon would be observed tonight when the sun went down. "We're currently on the Young Moon," the apprentice continued matter-of-factly, "which is known as the best time for new beginnings. So it's considered a great moon phase for litters to be born and the like."
