Sunblossom is a tortoiseshell mackerel tabby she-cat. Her coat is a well-blended mixture of gingers and browns; her chin, chest and belly are creamy white, as are the toes of her front paws, and her tail darkens to black at its tip. Her fur is short and well-kempt, and she sheds very little over the year. Her eyes are a bright yellow-green and are set above a dark pink nose and long white whiskers. She is slightly small in stature, though her figure is well-muscled beneath her coat.

Although she is not a flighty individual, Sunblossom has a very positive, easy-going outlook on life, choosing to take time to laugh, flirt, and appreciate the little things. She has always been possessed of a certain degree of naivety, and she typically takes things at face value, thus making her more easily gulled than most. Sunblossom harbors a deep trust and respect for those older and, she assumes, wiser than she. She makes little effort to advance or set herself apart in the Clan, though she does fulfill her warrior duties with some degree of enthusiasm. Sunblossom can sometimes tend towards the petty in her relations with her Clanmates; though she means no harm by it, she enjoys holding the attention of others by spreading whatever interesting talk she can get her paws on, whether it is untrue or not. She will not go so far as to invent gossip, but she does embellish where she feels it necessary.

Sunblossom was born Sunkit, the only offspring of Embertail and Spottedstream of ShadowClan. Her mother, Spottedstream, lavished attention upon her, rarely letting Sunkit out of her sight. Embertail was a frequent visitor to the nursery, often bringing his daughter small gifts, such as feathers and crisp leaves, or sitting with Sunkit to tell her stories. This close relationship came to a tragic end when Sunkit was five moons old; Embertail, out on patrol, was killed by a stray dog. Sunkit, not of a disposition to brood or mourn for long, was reassured by the knowledge that her father walked with StarClan.

Sunkit became Sunpaw at the typical age of six moons, apprenticed to a rather junior female warrior named Mintnose. Sunpaw found in her mentor a kindred spirit; Mintnose was nearly as happy-go-lucky as Sunpaw, and it was from Mintnose that Sunpaw gained her taste for juicy gossip. The two she-cats became fast friends, and when Sunpaw's mother died of Killingcough, Sunpaw began to rely more heavily on her mentor's company to fill her time. Sunpaw enjoyed carrying out her duties -- most of them, anyway -- and was soon ready to take her warrior name.

Sunpaw, since receiving the name Sunblossom, has found herself thriving on the increased social exposure she has as a warrior. She fulfills her duties with gusto, particularly those which involve spending time with other cats. Recent events -- such as the violent death of a clanmate at the jaws of a fox -- have given her cause to be a little anxious when she leaves camp.

In the Moon of Leopard's Rest (2008) she decided to become a mother and asked Lionheart to be the sire of her litter. The tom accepted and she became pregnant. During the Moon of Tiger's Wrath, she went from Light Warrior Duties into the Nursery.
