Human Equivalent: Damaged Tooth
 
Description: The teeth are susceptible to breakage and can crack or even have parts of them broken off during the stress of battle or as a cat ages teeth may be damaged while breaking the bones of prey for marrow.

In mild cases the tooth is cracked but still in a single piece.

In moderate cases the tooth may have a piece broken off but is still present.

In sever cases the tooth is broken off completely at the base, leaving nothing but the root of the tooth intact.

 
Duration: Mild: The patient should be restored to health within 1-2 weeks.
Moderate: The patient should be restored to health within 1-3 weeks.
Severe: The patient should be restored to health within 1-1 ½ moons.
 
Treatment: Mild:
  • Order the cat to rest for at least a day, until the worst of the pain subsides.
  • Treat the pain as best as is possible.
Moderate:
  • Order the cat to rest for at several days, until the worst of the pain subsides.
  • Treat the pain as best as is possible.
  • Assist the cat in keeping the the hole in the tooth clear of debris carefully using claws.
  • Treat the patient's mouth to prevent infection.
Severe: Treatment is parallel to a moderate case except that the patient might need rest for longer.
 
Residual Effects: Mild: Difficulty eating for 2-3 days.

Tooth sensitivity for 1-2 weeks.

Moderate: Difficulty eating for 3-7 days.

Tooth sensitivity for 1-3 weeks.

Severe: Difficulty eating for 1-2 weeks.

Tooth sensitivity for at least 1 moon.

 
Possible Complications: Mild: It is highly likely that the tooth will continue to decay and reappear as a moderate case within a year.
Moderate: The tooth will require regular medical care to keep food from being caught in the hole.

Severe: The tooth will require regular medical care to keep food from being caught in the hole.

The pain is likely to recur periodically as infection comes and goes from the damage site.

 
Notes: Severe cases have a high probability of secondary infection.
