A longhaired black and white she-cat with gray-green eyes
Long Description :
Serendipity is a black and white she-cat with long, feather-like fur. Her fur is especially dense along her sides, back, and neck, where it forms a thick mane. Black fur covers her back, sides, tail and ears, while her chest, legs, paws and muzzle are all white. Her eyes are slightly narrow and gray-green, and her nose is a light pink. Long, white whiskers poke out of the black fur above her eyes, as well as in their normal positions on the side of her face. Living with Twolegs, she is not unduly thin. However, neither is she above an ideal weight, due to her habit of liking to explore the neighborhood. Her legs are stout and thick, better for jumping and scratching than running. Her claws are a translucent white.

Personality
Bold and talkative, Serendipity is used to being the center of attention. She's the only cat of her household, home to a young, loving Twoleg couple. However, she tends to prefer the company of other cats, and consequently spends much of her time exploring the neighborhood and meeting as many as she can, particularly during the day, when her Twolegs are out working. While she doesn't go looking for fights, she can be opinionated, and won't hesitate to back up her words. She can be pleasant company to chat with, unless, however, she feels that she is being ignored. If that is the case, she can and will be rather rude and snippy until she is paid attention to again. Serendipity can also be quick to offend, if one isn't careful. She enjoys kittens, how they walk, how they talk, and how they think. Most of all, though, she is curious and enjoys a sense of adventure.

When a young, recently married man opened the door to his front porch to go outside and fetch the newspaper, he had not expected to find a cat and her kitten, soaking wet from the overnight drizzle and shivering. The mother was surprisingly docile, and allowed the young man to carry her and her kitten inside. He showed it to his wife, who was overjoyed to have animals in the house again, as the couple had recently lost their almost just-as-recently adopted puppy to disease. However, as the day progressed, the mother began to show the effects of her night out in the rain, and despite her earlier gentleness, the she-cat went completely ballistic when any attempts were made to remove her from the house, which included any and all trips to a veterinarian. A few days later, she died of pneumonia. Distraught, the couple sought help on how to raise her tiny kit, who was almost certainly only a couple of weeks old at most, and not weaned yet. The vet they took her to gave her the normal shots, and told the couple how to feed and care for her. The couple named the kit Serendipity, because the mother had unwittingly stopped for shelter on the very doorstep of the two most willing to save her kit (and her, if they had been able to).
Serendipity grew quickly beneath her housefolk's care, and ventured outside for the first time on a bright, spring day when she was about nine months old. On that day, she discovered, only after she fell off the fence joining her housefolk's garden to the one next door, three housecats who lived next door to her. Soon, she was visiting them daily, and enjoying chatting with other cats. Unfortunately, however, one day her neighbor's housefolk decided to move, taking away her three friends. Seeking to fill the companionship she had lost, Serendipity began to search further and further in the adjoining gardens, over time becoming acquainted with many of the surrounding house cats. One day in particular, however, Serendipity felt the drive to explore further than ever before. Finding a low ditch with water at the bottom between two gardens, she followed it on a stroke of curiousity, and found a place where the gardens stopped, and the trees became huge and wild. She has since been mystified by the place and visits it a fair amount, although she has not worked up enough nerve to enter. Despite all this, Serendipity has led a mostly carefree life, something she both likes and is slightly annoyed with at the same time. She has accepted that life is most likely not going to change, but at times, she can't help but hope. Recently, Serendipity met several housecats, including one Pendragon, king of Cats of Camelot. A little while later, Pendragon held a court where he explained his goal of creating a medieval order of knights, which she attended. When he gave an offer to the attending cats to join as a page, Seren - excited by the prospect of adventure and feeling slight admiration for Pendragon himself - joined with marked enthusiasm.</div> |
