This adoption is closed.
This application opened on 26 July 2012 and is currently OpenSubmitting this application indicates the player wishes to play the Princess of the Cabal, firstborn of Caesar Caligula and Centurion Drusilla's first litter. Although Cal won't consider her his heir to the Empire, he'll expect her to be a role-model and act accordingly as any princess of the Cabal.

This kit is a unusual coloring, a mink tabby bicolor she-kit with medium length fur. To the awarded player, I will give references to what she looks like.

Question 1

Adoption Status: Accepted

Chosen Names

Cleopatra (glory of the father)
Andromeda (thinks like a man/warrior)
Vita (life)

I'm a big supporter of names that shed light to the character's personality, fate, role, description, etc. I chose Vita from your list because it was the one I liked the most, and then I chose a few for my own that would be fitting. I ruled out mushy names, because Caligula's profile doesn't read like he's into sappy names much. I prefer Cleopatra over the others because of the symbolism of her father's expectations for her. Andromeda I picked because I would plan on going with a more vibrant, headstrong, "claws-on" princess.

Personality Development & Directions

Although I touch on both kittenhood and cathood, I speak mostly for the later part of her life, when she has reached maturity.

As a kitten or young cat, I would see her as someone who, burdened with the responsibility from an early age to have to represent the Caesar and his Empire in a proper light, would react with outbursts of headstrong behavior, which would probably irk her father a bit. Although she wants nothing then to appease her father, and gain his approval, the idea that she must “always be a role-model” puts a lot of stress and pressure on her shoulders. In the beginning, I would not expect her to be able to deal with that. How much you want them to clash is up to you, as I’m flexible. Drama is always a fun thing to roleplay, but depending on how you think Caligula would handle it IC, you can decide.

To help her mature, the option would be to find her a kithood best friend, someone who is more laid-back and can teach her to be less stressed out, or to hide it better. Someone whom she can be more herself then what she is expected to be. That role could also be filled in by a mentor. Said mentor could even of been especially given to her by an exasperated, and probably aggravated, father; although she might see it as an attempt as another way to reform her, unless she/he was patient and constructively critical.

Aside from the drama, I imagine her to be thoughtful, smart, and resourceful, which, after going through her youthful, rebellious stage, would make her into a good cat to lend an ear to. As she grows, her ability to handle pressure will increase to something she will master, with the ability to to handle multiple tasks with grace and efficiency. Her compassion and understanding would contrast her father’s restless passion. Like her father though,“politician” could describe her as well; she has a natural ability to manipulate others, although she may use it for different needs, and maybe not as sinister.

More a father’s kit, she desires nothing more than his approval, which only grows stronger with age, but unlike her mother, she doesn’t desire to be so desperate about it. Even as a kit, any chance she gets to show herself off her father, she will try. This is partially her reason for her desire to change with maturity. If she does more things to please her father, then go against him, theoretically, she should get what she desires!

Luckily for her “insanity” skipped her generation! She likes to think of herself as more “sane” then either of her parents- particularly her mother, whom she’s not overly fond of; although she is blood, so she patiently tolerates her. She can be prone to bouts of untempered rage, stemming from her headstrong manner and can be triggered by strong negative reactions to things; but, she can generally keep that in check, and it’s not a part of her she likes to dwell upon for too long.

As she grows, she will change from a “claws before questions” kit to a more mindful “look before you leap” she-cat. Although she is not easily goaded into a fight, her attacks are ferocious and wild, but not untamed. She paid well enough to her training to know not to lose her head. Her interpretation of her father's expectations of her encompasses all things, and so she tried hard in training to be the best, even if she's only good.

I am open to any constructive criticisms you have about my choice on how to roleplay his daughter, and if there is any ideas about how he's meant to rely on her. I assumed you meant morally, but if you meant something else, I can work with it. I think she'll be fun to write, and I hope I’ll be given the chance. :) She would be my first character on here (although not my first roleplay character ever).

Thorn and I have had a chat. We've decided to accept this application In Trust. This means the adoption will not become offical until such time as a certain criteria has been met. In this case, we're accepting in trust for the moment when Otterpelt makes it all the way through the applications process. At that time, you'll be able to start working on your kitten character sheet (instructions for that are found in the litters department).  Kitsufox  Fox's Den 15:30, 25 January 2013 (CST)
