Cat colors are incredibly complicated. To get just the base color of a cat you have to sort you way through a series of three genes. This document is intended to guide you through how to go about that.

Getting Started

The three alleles that decide the base color of a cat are the White Gene, Red Gene, and the Black Gene. This is also the order one has to work through them.

The white gene creates a non-albino white cat (that is, a cat who has white fur but eyes that are not red/pink).

The Red gene will make a cat either Red, Calico, or display the next gene in this polygene series.

The Black gene is displayed if the cat is not red or calico (though it does effect the calico shade)
