Announcement

This explanation was written a long while ago, but a new player was interested in a character that was an apprentice and sparked my memory of this forgotten bit of writing I'd done in my work notebook. Because of how different out stance on apprentices is, well... We need a PSA or some other form of documentation. Here goes...

It took a long time to work out how I wanted to approach this issue, as I get approved time and time again as to the process for getting an apprentice character.

Things boil down, very simply, to in character litters being the primary way by which an apprentice is to be acquired. This means apprentices with an in character connection to other Player Characters, family and plenty of role play already who are fully developed character ready to face the world and react with a fully developed personality.

Now, we do have provisions for moments when no Player Character Litters are happening. When requires the Administration will create Non-Player Character Parented litters and adopt out those offspring to be played while the parent is NPC'ed.

Yes, this does make it obvious that I intend never for another apprentice to ever be created instant-style again on the game. It is an inescapable truth. If you wish an apprentice, get approved to play a kit in a PC/NPC Litter. Do not ask Kitsu or any other administrator to make an exception. However interesting the character you have in mind is, that character is not worthy of an exception by virtue of it having to be poofed into existence.

Excluding a small number of characters approved during the first 3 months CoSC was opened, all In Character apprentices have had Role Played out Kithoods! In fact, I can think of 3 Warriors who have spend their entire lives before the "Camera" (Hopestorm, Kestrelstorm, and Fiercestorm). They are some of the game's best known and best develop character.

The Permanent Ban on apprentices works in all but the first few months of a game. CoSC is proof of that.
