A situation in which a queen is not producing enough milk to feed her offspring. This could be the result of either her litter surpassing her ability to produce or complications due to poor condition.

While measures are taken to increase the supply of the queen care must be taken to ensure the kits remain fed. Ideally this would be though another queen feeding the kits, but in cases where that is not possible well chewed meat may be substituted.
