A ginger tom with long tail, big paws, and amber eyes
Long Description :
Thornpelt is a small, thick-furred ginger tom. His coat is short and glossy, with the faintest tabby markings common in red cats. A medium-size nose and oval bright amber eyes complete the set of his muzzle, framed by long, thin white whiskers. His ears are long, a bit larger than common for his size. Thornpelt's paws are larger and is tail is longer than most, balancing his body out to normal standards.

Personality
A very short tempered strict tom, Thornpelt has little patience for anything but his work - during which he rarely likes to be disturbed. He can be quite snappish at times, due to his no-nonsense personality. As a healer, he takes it upon himself to go to the leader and mentors and make sure that they tell the apprentices about deathberries, fungi and other poisonous herbs and plants.
The young apprentice in his care has somewhat softened Thornpelt's bristling personality, if only toward Brightsky herself. As he tries hard to follow Crestedback's pawsteps, the repeated omens of danger in the forest hardly leave his mind. Leopardtrack's betrayal, the Fisher and the Killingcough have Thornpelt's fur on end, no matter how he tries to rationalize the situations.

History

Full History :
Born during the time of the Great War, Thornkit was immediately thrust into a world of peril and shadows. Four moons after he was born, with Leaf-fall setting in, his sister Silverkit died of Greencough. Henceforth, Thornkit grew with his brother, Cloudkit, under the care of Midnightsky and Dewpelt.
Moons passed, and Thornkit and Cloudkit became apprentices. They trained well, until one day when Thornpaw and Cloudpaw were running across the Thunderpath and a monster crossed at high speed. The apprentices raced for the other side, but both were hit. Thornpaw was only grazed, while Cloudpaw was hit head on. In the medicine cat den, he learned that his brother had survived. Upon asking how much longer his brother had to live, Skyflame, then medicine cat, merely shrugged. Thornpaw helped nurse his brother back to health so that he could walk and talk, thus drawing attention to himself as a potential healer. Happy that his brother had not died - and gaining a respect for herbs - he proceeded to become the medicine cat apprentice. Thornpaw was so excited to be the apprentice of the medicine cat that he walked around with his head in the clouds for at least a moon. One moon later, his brother passed away, but Thornpaw was grateful that he had long enough to see him become the medicine cat apprentice. Thornpaw trained until he was 24 moons, when he was made a medicine cat as Thornpelt. The next four moons were spent as WindClan's solo medicine cat, since Skyflame went to live with RiverClan to complete Seafur's training. Upon her return to WindClan, Skyflame and Thornpelt shared their medicine cat duties until the she-cat's death, during the Moon of Turning Leaves (2005). The young medicine cat was sad, yet soon realized his mentor had had a long and healthy life. At the end of his 33rd moon, Doublestar took Thornpelt to the first Gathering after the Great War. This Gathering was a time of anger and battle, and Thornpelt and Doublestar left early so as to leave from the site of the battle. With the other three medicine cats at the time (Tangleheart, Seafur and Crestedback), Thornpelt had concocted a prophecy to ensure the war's end, but their lie was discovered and the clans barely managed to keep their peace. Since then, Thornpelt has tried to keep himself together throughout the dangers of life in the forest. The shattered faith in the medicine cats was slow to rebuild, and Thornpelt hasn't forgotten the still vivid consequences of the fake prophecy. 2006's peaceful Green-leaf was a blessing, but it didn't last long. At his 41st moon, during the Moon of Cheetah's Flight, Thornpelt took Cloverkit - renamed Brightpaw - as his apprentice. With Bigpaw's acceptance as a full medicine cat for ThunderClan and the consequent retirement of Crestedback, the ginger tom became the senior medicine cat of the forest. However, it was also at that moon's Medicine Cat Meeting that the medicine cats found a new threat to the forest: the rogue Shattered had been killed by an unknown predator. The next moons were ripe with panic and death, as more cats were killed. Eventually, Thornpelt was gathering herbs with Echofly when the creature revealed itself, a Fisher named Sair Fen. Echofly perished to allow the medicine cat to flee back to his clan and reveal the terrible news. Two moons later, Sair Fen's death brought Thornpelt unmeasurable waves of relief - but that, too, was short lived. An unknown illness spread through the clans, killing cats unrelentingly. Nothing the medicine cats did proved to have some effect; to Thornpelt's panic, his own leader and long-time companion Doublestar fell ill. With no other options, the ginger tom ended up easing Doublestar's suffering by taking his remaining lives. That propelled the recently-made deputy Blackwater to the leadership of WindClan, and their half-sister Dawnfire to deputyship. During that moon, Brightpaw became a full medicine cat and was renamed Brightsky. The Killingcough raged on, and it was only six moons after Doublestar's death that the last cat infected, Streamcloud, passed away. The following moon, at 55 moons of age, Thornpelt retired to the Elders' den. |
