That's right! Another Character Sheet Update.

The following is what was accomplished in this edition:

  1. Pedigree Chart acquired some labels to clarify.
  2. The following templates were integrated: {{Charinfo}}, {{Slot-S}}, {{Gene}} & {{Litter/details}}
    • Litter Records are now given a location in the sheet for permeant records.
    • Litter notification templates appear automatically at the top when the character is not yet born.
  3. The forms have all been updated and overhauled to accommodate these changes.
  4. Age computation code was re-written, including bug-fixing the issues with no birthday but an assigned deathday.

There's nothing groundbreaking, but once I'm done updating the characters using the old templates and linking in all of the litter records. From here the character sheet updates are going on hiatus so that the adoption systems can be overhauled. Once that system is overhauled I'll pick the character sheets back up. I feel as though my template time will be more effective right now focusing on the adoption system and then the quick sheet updates for that (I might possibly overhaul the groups pages layouts after that) prior to focusing on the next 2.5 goals (Previous Affiliations, Plot-death Integrations, Apprentice Training Tracker, & Leader Lives Tracker).

One of the nice things about the way I've changed the sheets is that it's less of a fuss to update parts of the sheet now. So smaller roll-outs are possible and patching is easier (like the patch roll-out I did when the age code got re-written). I intend to do more of that when I re-write significant sections. Larger releases are more complicated than before, but patching is now simple, and ability to quick-patch things is important.

As always, let me know if you see anything weird as sheets are updated to the new systems.

Characters with Litter Records associated have had them added!

EDIT: Ditto for the Staff Slot pages. I've noticed some weirdness with some of the forms and am going to go over these to ensure all is well.

I fixed a minor problem with the form editing that was making it freak-out and not handle staff slot and genetics status properly. Because I called staffslot on both instances for the field. Amazing how programming freaks out when you do it wrong.

All character sheets already using the templates have been updated!

I realized that I didn't write good controls for characters without Charinfo assigned, however, so I'm going to address that ASAP and also install an "It's missing" detector for my character admin area.

2.4.4.1

Character Details Patch - Improved layout and named the section where Genetics and Char Info appear now. Made Charinfo hide when it is not configured and automatically add living characters to.

Short Name Gender Glitch (Fae stumbled upon another character sheet whose Name History "Short Name" has the gender switched. I know we talked about this earlier, but since I don't know where exactly the old thread is, I'm just going to put this here.)

  • Xochiquetzal is female, but in her Name History, it reads, "Called Xochi by those around him.

2.4.4.2 was the overhaul and integration of the adoption system. That was large enough that it got it's own thread to address the changes that came with it, but I didn't consider it enough change to the character sheets themselves to result in a new version number rollover. But it was significant in that it required me to take some new character sheet source code live.

There have also been the following unannounced Hot Fixes to the sheets since I last made an announcement:

  • Tweak to appearance section to correct no-sdesc display.
  • Worked over the Char-info template to make {{genetraitcomp}} things work.
  • Corrected a Char-into Template Category.
  • Fixed a few wordings in the Key Dates choices.

2.4.4.3

The Player Notes Patch

  • In Player Notes, adjusted it to include a "Name Notes" section, replacing the "Desired Name" entry.
  • Desired names now show up in the "Name Notes" section, listed as "Reserved Name".
  • Added a readout addressing name history status and assigning categories as needed to create lists in the department.
  • Relationships section updated to adjust depending on the existence of the page.
  • Vox populi was tweaked to only show the section with the character's opinions when at least one exists.
  • Made adjustments to the Vox Populi link so that it's more intuitive, encouraging & clear to the players interacting with the links.
