Hi, I'm Kitsufox. I'm the head administrator here at CoSC. I just wanted to check in an see if you needed any help. If you do, feel free to contact me, post on the forum, or use one of the messengers I have listed on the Staff Page to get help. Everyone here at CoSC would be happy to assist. RE: So how does this place work?
I'm sorry that you've been having such issues with the site! Hopefully if we discuss things I can take those problems and consider them for changes to the menus and game information to hopefully smooth experiences of others!
First off, the Forum itself can be found by mousing over the "OOC" menu. It's item #2 in that list. As for what's already happened... CoSC has 10 years of history to it. We're actively working on improving the major events timekeeping. Unfortunately our major prophecies/plots have not been as well documented as they should be and we're actively working on improving the matter. For what information that is available, you can visit the Canon Page and see what has come before at least where the major plots have been.
As for the original groups... Players have started groups for non-clan cats that have not appeared in the books. Those include the Cats of Camelot and Caligula's Cabal. We're definitely an Alternate Universe Warriors game. I should re-write the from page blurb to include that more explicitly. The names of the moons came about in discussions many years ago with the other founder (who has since departed the game) when we realized that we couldn't effectively use month names because there are 13 full moons in a year, not 12. So we made up names for the various full moons of the year that we felt were clannish.
For the "tables", those came to CoSC from the wolf pack role-play world. One of the game departments is a character table maker that helps players create and use their tables more easily. Tables are not, however, required to RP. They're just very popular because they're easy to make and add a very attractive layer to the RP.
Generally speaking we like new players to jump in on the Clanner side of matters. It helps them get used to the differences between CoSC and the Book canon. For an efficient list that covers the major differences between the original canon and CoSC's changes, visit the Clan Cats Information page, where we outline off the key differences. If you read that key differences page, and knew about the links it provided, you will get along playing a CoSC clan member just fine. and if you have any direct questions please feel free to reach out to me or Fae~o~the~Wind, my assistant administrator.
If you feel a faster discussion would benefit you, we could arrange a time to meet in the Chatroom. I have a somewhat flexible schedule, so it shouldn't be impossible to plan something.
