CoC Running a Court

From Children of StarClan

Navigation: Index

This guide is intended to cover the In and Out of Character aspects of running a session of the court.

Arrival

OOC: The first post in the thread is made by the ruler-player who has charge of this session of the court. The following notes are important to be included in the OOC section of the first post:

If you start RPing after session has been called you may RP as if you arrived on time, unless you do want to potentially cause a scene.
Messangers were sent through the kingdom to announce the session of the court in which public petitions including offers of fealty would be heard.

Call to Order

IC: The player with charge of the court must call it to order. Below are the various things that must be tended to during the call to order, including the current default statements (featuring Pendragon, his family, and the court as of 10 September 2014).

It is with the authority granted to me by God himself that I do so call this session of the Court of the Cats of Camelot to order in the name of myself: His royal majesty King Pendragon of Camelot, the first of his name, Son of Benewick who was third of his name and who was in turn the son of Siege Perilous, Scions of the royal blood of the cats of camelot, so honored by King Uther in the days of yore.

Formal Announcement of the Call to Order

This section may be be handled by a herald if one has been appointed.

Also in attendance upon the court, Her royal majesty Queen Valiant of Camelot, First of her name, daughter in body to Johnathan of Shokopee and of spirit to Lord Socrates of Whitehart. Wife of King Pendragon I of the Cats of Camelot.; His royal highness Crown Prince Arthur of Camelot, the first of his name, Son of King Pendragon I who was in turn son of Benewick the third, Scions of the royal blood of the cats of camelot, so honored by King Uther in the days of yore.; Their Graces Prince Cearnaigh, Princess Ceridwen, Prince Gareth, and Princess Kelia. First their names, children of King Pendragon I and Queen Valiant I of Camelot. Their Lordships Socrates of the Fief Whitehart & Aslan of Fief Von Monte."

Call for Petitions

This section may be be handled by a herald if one has been appointed.

All those who wish to make a peitition to the court please rise and wait to be recognized.

Acceptance of Petitioners

The throne recognizes the petition for audience of [Name or Description]. Come forward and speak [If name is not known: first your name, then] the business you wish to lay before the court.

Petitions should then be dealt with by the ruler. Generally this includes taking offers of fealty or accepting cats as page.

Formal Announcements

The throne then makes any announcements they have. This might include naming Pages to be squired, announcing betrothals or marriages and the like. At times it might include quests or other missions being undertaken by the court.

Final Call for Petitions

I ask for any final petitions. Should you fail to rise now you will not have another opportunity to speak until the next session of the court.

Closing of the Court

Once any formal announcements have been concluded, the court session is closed by royal decree.

I, King Pendragon I of Camelot, do hearbye close this session of the Cats of Camelot.
