Appearance

Short Description :
A petite cream and gray calico she-cat with sky blue eyes
Long Description :
A dilute calico, Cottonwhisker's body is dominantly cream and gray with patches of white here and there; her dainty paws are completely white. Her form is of petite size, not much bigger than some apprentices, which she finds amusing - especially when mistaken for one. She takes advantage of her size in battles, using finesse and her natural dexterityon. Cottonwhisker's short fur is silky soft, her nose is gray and she has piercing sky-blue eyes eyes that reveal her mood as easily as her body language.
Personality

Very sweet and nurturing, at first sight it is rather surprising Cottonwhisker has achieved a leading rank in ThunderClan. Indeed, it seems that motherhood is a perfect choice for the little she-cat, away from the burdens of deputyship. Nevertheless, in her times as deputy, Cottonwhisker learned that raising a litter of kits isn't that different from organizing the daily life of her clan.

Her sky-blue eyes once revealed at the death of her blood family and past mate; now, they look onward to the future of her clan and new family, with Bloodstar as her mate and her offspring growing day by day. While they usually bear a tolerant, friendly expression, those same eyes can be hard as steel; Cottonwhisker will not back away from admonishing her clanmates, brooking no nonsense.

Regarding Cottonwhisker's favorite activities, most of them relate to the basic aspects of clan life. She loves sharing tongues, watching the kits play and the apprentices go about their activities. Although she knows many of the stories the Elders tell, she still goes to them and asks of stories, like she did in her kithood.

Since the birth of her kits, and having accepted Bloodstar's kits, Stormkit and Markedkit, as her own, Cottonwhisker has taken a very strong liking to Bloodstar and, unbeknownst to her, she tended to make it rather obvious. In recent moons, she has come to realize that attraction and has recently given birth to a new litter of kits by the ThunderClan leader.

Full History :
Born into the clan amongst a large litter of six, Cottonkit was also the smallest. Despite eating all she could to grow big and strong like her siblings, she found herself never quite able to achieve the same size as them. Only four kits of the litter survived an illness that swept through and Cottonkit was one of them. As a kit, she was very playful and adored Fiercestar and the elders, especially those who would tell her a story at any point in time as long as she brought them some freshkill.

When Cottonpaw became an apprentice along with her three brothers, she was found to have endless energy, enthusiasm for learning and eagerness to do any task requested of her, no matter how small - despite the other apprentices and some of her own siblings' teasing but to the delight of her mentors, the elders, and more importantly, the approval of her leader.

About the time she was given her warrior name, Cottonwhisker, her parents fought a fox invading ThunderClan territory and were killed. Despite this, she and her siblings kept their chins up. Cottonwhisker was proud of herself for proving she could be a good warrior; despite being small of size, she was big of heart and that was what her clan and Fiercestar saw in her.

However, fate was not as kind to her siblings. One night, Boulderface, Crowfoot and Stonepelt went out on patrol with a group of seven cats. For some reason, the group came back alive but her three siblings did not, leaving Cottonwhisker with no living kin. Those that returned refused to speak of that night, even to the leader, and the medicine cat was unable to find anything to coax them to do so. Cottonwhisker was keeping some of the elders company at the time and the group was startled when the leader yowled for them to gather and mourn the loss of the warriors who had been struck down on the Thunderpath; the whole clan mourned them, with Cottonwhisker mourning the hardest.

A few moons after, a warrior named Tigerpelt began to court the petite calico warrior. She was not interested at first, wanting to be the best warrior she could, but eventually, she accepted his courting and the two became mates. About the time Cottonwhisker found out she was expecting kittens, her mate disappeared under mysterious circumstances; thought to have joined StarClan, in reality he had been caught by two-legs.

During the next year, she bounced back somewhat. Although the she-cat apparently carried herself as she always had, it was obvious that the loss of her large family affected her greatly. During that time, she gave birth to three kits, Tigerpelt's offspring: Brightkit and Cansipkit died before their second sunset, but there was a surviving she-kit - Kestrelkit.

About five days after her kitting, two kits were brought to Cottonwhisker needing mothering. Having had adequate time to mourn for the ones she had lost (although as a mother, she would always mourn them), Cottonwhisker accepted Markedkit and Stormkit as her own and had a litter of three kits once again. For the longest time, she was run ragged raising three energetic kits instead of one, but that worsened once she and Markedkit were snatched up by two-legs. Cottonwhisker managed to escape but when Markedkit didn't, she became very paranoid and overprotective with Stormkit and Kestrelkit. When they disappeared looking for their sister, she about panicked and became very frantic. Once they were found, they were made apprentices. When Markedkit was brought home, the young she-kit was renamed Hopepaw and given to Cottonwhisker as an apprentice.

Her natural tolerance toward cats from other clans clashed frequently with Bloodstar's resolutions; the ThunderClan's leader actions regarding Dogkit and Crestedback were the final drop, and Cottonwhisker's peaceful personality blinked away as she openly contested Bloodstar during a Gathering. This led to a break out between the two cats - and its results had a deeper impact on Cottonwhisker than she expected to. Fortunately, over the last moons, their friendship has been reforged, step by step; watching Kestrelpaw, Hopepaw and Stormpaw grow together makes Cottonwhisker believe there is hope for ThunderClan, and for her family. She has slowly regained her place as a quiet confident for her leader, easing the atmosphere between them. Their relationship grew stronger as the three apprentices became warriors, under the names Rosestorm, Hopestorm and Fiercestorm.

At the advent of a new prophecy from StarClan, the clan's deputy Roseclaw was killed by an unknown beast. Thus, at her 34th moon, Cottonwhisker was appointed deputy of ThunderClan. Following Bloodstar's request, she started guiding Fiercestorm on the steps of deputyship, preparing her foster son to become the future leader of ThunderClan.

In the Moon of Melting Waters of 2006, she gave birth to her second litter, the result of her mating with Bloodstar - three she-kits named Bramblekit, Mothkit and Sparrowkit. Mothkit's blindness worries Cottonwhisker no end: she knows her kit will hardly ever be anything but a burden to the clan, no matter the strength of her bloodline. Nonetheless, the Fierceblood in her daughters' veins - smoothed with some of Cottonwhisker's temperance - may ensure a strong future for her kits.

Meanwhile, her daughter Rosestorm has grown, much to Cottonwhisker's puzzlement. The warrior's rash temper and stubbornness blinded her mother to the obvious fact that Rosestorm is pregnant, with Slateshadow as the sire of her kits. Having just had kits of her own, the ThunderClan deputy feels she is still too young to be a granddame.

In the 16th day of the Moon of the Killingcough (2007), Cottonwhisker stepped down from the deputy position in favor of Fiercestorm, returning to the rank of the Senior Warriors of ThunderClan.

On the 16th day of the Moon of First Fishing (2008) she took to the Elder's Den due to the growing ache and stiffness in her shoulder.

During the Gathering on the 14th day of the Moon of Running Prey (2009), Cottonwhisker closed her eyes for the last time and took her last breath, allowing Bloodstar to escort her up to Starclan.
