I will be getting to the pending characters in the box shortly. I've been a bit slow on them due to the impending launch of a website I'm working on for Arketype (the company I contract with). Also on the soon to come list is an update for the Bans lists.

I've handled a big hunk of the bans update. I'm holding off on WindClan and ShadowClan until I have a chance to pop through and finalize the kill lists for Time of the Hunters (they're the last groups with outstanding kills to be added to the lists, so Adoptables will be pulled and lists will be culled. I hope to open all of the clans to new characters with this move.

And the bans update is finally finished. I'm happy to say that all 4 clans are now opened up, and TONS of ages have been opened back up, too. So it's really a mission accomplished situation.

Today I have dead accounts without characters almost dealt with. Not too many more and we'll have only real accounts from actual players instead of multitudes of spam accounts (we no longer have serious issues with bad accounts being created). I've implemented an "Express Deletion" track that no longer requires me to wait 6 months to delete an account (the old policy) when there is no reason to believe it is a real account once it's over a month old.

This frees up more of my time for managing actual, contributing players than fighting with dead accounts. So it's a very good thing. Soon I won't have to spend much time weeding for bad accounts, and will be able to focus excessively on characters and role playing.

It's official. I'm done with dead accounts for the month. Don't have to worry about them until next month. It's a good feeling. particularly with the lack of bad accounts coming in.

I've done things between the first post and now, But I've been forgetting to post updates because... Well... Because I'm fail this month. I did get a new players character approved, though ;) so there is that.

Heads up, folks: I'm going through adoptable and doing everything in my power to shorten all of the lists. This means doing things like arbitrating deaths (particularly for Off-camera characters) and potentially ret-conning characters completely out of existence.

If there is anything adoptable that you're considering going for, even if you're not currently eligible for it, I urge you to contact me requesting that I not eliminate that character from existence or kill it off before you're ready for it.

I've been doing prep for the end of the month, when I'll be going through users weeding out dead ones. Keep in mind that before the end of August I plan to come up with the list of blizzard related casualties (most clans will loose a cat or two to the weather, via various means. There will be an announcement.

Finally approved Andromeda for Fishie. That was a shamefully slow app.

Just going to quickly write down what's what, it's not going to look organized.

Eased Crowkit, Willowkit, and Eagleflight

All clans are open to toms, but I did end up banning she-cats in all clans. Right now we have a slight overage on female characters, so we're going to try and fix that. I'll keep and eye on things, though, and as soon as I can I'll get female creation opened up again in the clans. Every clan needs more tom cats, that's for sure.

Also: Adoptables... Check the OOC Threads posted to various groups IC Forums. There have been some deaths relating to the blizzard announced. There have also been a number of illnesses where you have a small window in which you can still grab them. So if you have a character in the adoptables you've been considering, you'll want to get right on that. Even if you need to talk to me about making an offer in trust for as soon as you're done with something you're working on.

REMINDERS

  • New Retcon Warnings - Darksky and Tortoisenight will be Retconned if not adopted on 30 September 2013.
  • New Illness Warnings - Newheart will be dying of age/illness if not adopted by 22 September 2013.

This is just a head's up: I put out a patch to reduce Legacy Support in the character sheets and phase out a few fields we don't need anymore. This means we're in character sheet version 2.3.4.1

There is still a lot of Legacy code that isn't ready to be phased out (many sheets still use a date field that needs to go before we can really sort out some errors in the age codings). We're making progress, but it's slow going, since legacy removal has to be done by hand.

As of now the TC and RC cats who were CONed have been processed. This includes me easing anything that's possible and announcing warnings as to cats who will be going away (I will note them in this update thread as I post characters, in addition to posting it to other threads).

Tomorrow I'll be bringing all of the WC cats to adoption. I'm trying to set adoptions with solid resolutions, and sometime in November I'll probobly start worrying about a second round of culls from the various clans to help open things up and keep room for new characters who will actually be played.

The WC cats didn't get processed as quickly as I'd meant to. ShadowClan will get done as soon as I can. I'll have the adoptables who're at risk for illness quickest, since they have the most to lose.

This makes me (finally) 100% caught up on character processing. INCLUDING the NPCs that have been sitting around forever. If you have a character that doesn't have parental NPCs done, I suggest you take care of them. Remember, you only have to provide history as it applies to your character!

CHARACTER SHEET VERSION 2.4

Some of you might be wondering what changes came with version 2.4 . Well, we've been working towards it for awhile now, and some of the changes you're familiar with and have been in place for awhile. This final publish included the following:

  • Depreciation of the old system for tracking ceremony dates. No sheets contain any of this code any longer, so the character sheets no longer support them.
  • A cleaner, faster version of the age assignment codes.
  • Improvements to the age code that avoid some bugs we used to see with less typical situations.
  • Integration of the {{camelot}} template. CoC Followers now have an indication of membership!
  • Integration of the {{warborn}} template. Warborn cats now have an indication of status!
  • Integration of the *NEW* {{fierceblood}} template. Fierceblooded cats now have an indication of the trait!
  • Cleanup of some messy code, including clearer notations on some issues, such as missing status, missing birth date, and the like.
  • More consistent messages displayed for errors.

There is more in store for character sheets in the future, but as of now, they're heading to the back burner. The next major code project that will effect everyone will be improvements to the canon pages. Most of the changes to the new system of name and event tracking were actually the first step in better automated tracking of events.

I'll be putting forth more details in the discussion area about what will be coming in this project in the near future! Keep your eyes peeled, as after I go over the project, I'll have a short window where I'll take suggestions and collect feedback.

It has been really, really quiet this month, but we've had good RP, so there's that.

Right now I'm gearing up to start the changeover to the improved history stuff for clans to be switched to the new version. I expect it'll be ready for launch of the new edition of the template by Monday. The big challenge is that the new version requires an additional field with the group name be added (this is so that we can more easily support the non-clan groups with the same sub-template for the DPL call [if you don't understand this, don't feel bad. It's in there for anyone techy enough to understand it] template).

Due to Bananaseb leaving the game, Sparrowsong is now available for application. As an alternative, the Medicine Cat's Apprentice application has also been opened for TC. To be eligible to apply all you have to have is a month of activity IC. That's it.

CHARACTER SHEET VERSION 2.4.1

This is just a tiny patch of the character sheet to solve some issues with eased characters. Eased Characters now appear on the character lists and counts. EVEN if they have been adopted. It solves the problem that would result in them disappearing from lists based on being put into easement proceedings.

Those of you with eased characters: Your character sheets have been switched to this system. It just involves setting the new "easement" option in the character sheet to yes, and then the fields all self-correct.

If you notice any problems with the character sheets now, please report them to me.
